I was staying in this hotel, and after trying many fancier restaurants, found the food much better and cheaper at the hotel restaurant. I would typically eat every breakfast and lunch here, as the breakfasts were the best I had in Puebla, and for lunch they offer a rotating 5 course menu of the day for a great price (typically... You can find better food in Puebla at more affordable prices, but if you are insecure about food, the Colonial will leave you feeling satisfied as well as safe. For a little bit pricey spread, come for the Sunday lunch.

The hotel restaurant was just what we wanted after a day of travel. The food was good, the staff attentive [until time for desert and the bill.] We enjoyed our stay at the Colonial and will return.

Unlike another reviewer, I found the meal here that was included with our tour to be quite exceptional. Instead of buffets, as we had on other days, this was a meal at which we were waited on by very friendly and efficient staff and given a number of choices for our meal. The mole was very tasty. The wine I... More

The hotel serves a decent breakfast in a bright, pretty room. We ate there twice and ventured out once. Our breakfast experience outside the hotel was such a disaster that we regretted not eating all breakfasts at the hotel. Waiters didn't speak much English but we were able to communicate our wishes fairly easily with our limited Spanish.

Not mole from Wind in the Willows but mole the sauce. A lovely cool building to retreat to out of the Puebla heat. Beautifully clean with equally clean and nice loos. It was our first try of mole which is an incredibly rich sauce based upon chocolate and so much more. You had the option of your meal covered in... More

I must be fair. I am with a small tour and our meal was set, so I didn't even get to see a real menu. But most of the patrons in the dining room were with various tours.the food was institutional bland and some things were so bad we didn't eat them. Think of a trip you might have taken... More

Hotel Colonial is located in the center of the beautiful city of Puebla, also known as the City of Angels. It's only one block off the beautiful town square and approximately three blocks from the Parian Market. This hotel is a monastery that has been renovated. The ceilings are vaulted and many of the rooms have floor to ceiling doors... More

Enjoy this seasonal food, made with fruits of the different regions of the state and "Nogada" a delicious sauce made of Castilla nuts. Top with little bit of pomegranate fruit and parsley. To crate the colors of Mexican flag. In a very traditional atmosphere of our colonial city. If you like sweet taste try it. During the year local colonial... More
