Beautiful restaurant, with a lovely fireplace. Really warm feel, and great ambience. Their "business lunch" special is a great value, and plenty of choices especially for the main course. A nice selection of good wines as well. Staff was very friendly and prompt service. Our water glasses were never empty, they were constantly refilling it. I had the white anchovy... More

I have always been a frequent guest of Tango Bistro. They have recently revamped their menu steering away from tapas and more toward great meals as well as larger sharing style dishes. I'm loving the happy hour seafood dishes, oysters for $1.50 ea, chilled crab cocktail and scallop crudo are delicious. Great for date night and groups alike.

Went for happy hour and had the Raw Bar happy hour. It was delicious but I would recommend that they add some rice or crackers to the fish dishes. Would allow for some texture components to compliment the delicious fish. Otherwise, great place to go.

Called in today with a family friend and had a most enjoyable lunch. French Onion Soup was followed by Game Hen. Good friendly service and tasty food.

Great stuff! Brought a friend from Ottawa who is also a bit of a foodie and we both enjoyed the new menu. Glad to see they kept a couple of my favorite items and brought back the original Creme Brule. Service was great... a good pace, never pestering and we spent about 2.5 hours there. We shared dishes so we... More

Called to make a reservation for Sunday Brunch as had heard good things about it. When we arrived there was a note on the door saying brunch was being served next door at Smuggler's. We wished we had been advised when we made the reservation.

We had the white anchovy caesar salad (quite good and unique), brisket burger (dry and could've used a sauce) and mac and cheese (quite good) Menu is expensive for the quality of food served. Excellent service though. Quite an interesting change to a French bistro, given the number of similar restaurants in the city (Cassis, Bistro Rouge, etc)

Menu is different than the original menu with heavier choices. Staff was very nice and helpful though and when we decided to only have a glass of wine instead of eating there was no issues at all.

Arranged a business meet up at Tango and it was a great choice. The service was wonderful but the food was even better. Great appetizers to share or main courses. I will be back again, but this time just to enjoy the food. Prices are higher but not outrageous. You will not be disappointed, try the beef apps with bacon...melt... More

Description
Smuggler's Inn originally began in 1967 as Bar X Steakhouse, an American company. The current owner, Frank Krowicki, bought out his partners and went to work developing a brand new concept to Calgary. His vision included a mix of casual, late night fine dining and live piano bar. Over the years, the building expanded around Smuggler's Inn, with the addition of Winelite dining room on the west side, and Backstreet lounge and dining room on the north side. As the dining scene in Calgary began to change, Frank too saw a need to change and adapt. The first endeavour was the conversion of Backstreet lounge to Open Sesame in 2000. Open Sesame has been serving fresh, Pan Asian cuisine to happy customers ever since. The conversion of Backstreet dining room to Bolero was complete in 2007. As Calgary's first Brazilian style steakhouse, Bolero continues to satisfy meat lovers with its unique and interactive style of dining. Our latest addition is Tango Bistro, on the west side of the building, which once was Winelite dining room. At Tango Bistro, we bring together delicious, hand crafted small plates and fantastic wine to create a casual atmosphere for all to enjoy. In May 2013, Smuggler's Inn celebrated 40 years of serving mouth-watering Alberta prime rib and steaks alongside many original items, which have made us famous around the world. Four restaurants under one roof keeps us busy, but we wouldn't have it any other way. And the rest, as they say, is history! Smuggler's Group Rewards is a unique program that rewards you every time you visit us. For every dollar you spend, you earn points towards FREE Loyalty Certificates from Smuggler's Group Of Restaurants. Whenever you make a purchase, simply present your Smuggler's Group Rewards Card. We will automatically track your purchases and assign points to your membership. For every 200 points you accumulate, you will accumulate, you will automatically receive a $10 loyalty certificate to redeem on your next visit. There is no charge or fee associated with the Smuggler's Group Rewards Program. Just fill out the application, turn it in to us, and start using it right away.
