Six of us ate at Miku's Friday night. Place was packed and loud and fun. Our server - Thomas - and his supporting cast was fabulous. The menu is rather daunting but Thomas explained and guided and suggested a meal that worked for everyone. Very impressive. Food arrived and plates disappeared at a reasonable pace. We never felt rushed nor... More

We handed the responsibility for the choice of dishes to the waitress, and she didn't disappoint. Great cold and some hot dish options that the four of us could share, compare and enjoy. Good for a casual business lunch or a fun evening get together.

Nestled in the heart of Coal Harbour, Vancouver is a delicious Japanese restaurant well known for Aburi sushi. Aburi sushi is a type of sushi where the fish is partially grilled on the top side and partially raw. This is a very busy restaurant so lunch reservation is required. The atmosphere of the restaurant is trendy, upscale and lots of... More

Great place to dine. Never been disappointed on all of our orders. I highly recommend coming to this place. Also, if available, I recommend asking to be seated where Thomas is stationed. He will treat you like you are the only customer in the restaurant. Amazing service and accommodation and attention to details.

I am not usually a sushi fan, but the quality and menu choices at Miku won me over! My husband, who had openly stated he does not Iike sushi, totally enjoyed his meal, too. The wait staff was very good about recommendations that were perfect for us. (My son has eaten here before and also helped us make good choices.).... More

My waitress was Natalia. My gf double checked that sockeye salmon is wild salmon or farmed salmon. And she answered it's farmed. So, she ordered sockeye and we got wild salmon. I asked to Natalia that she really thinks that sockeye is farmed salmon. And she answered that she will double checked from sushi bar. Few min later she came... More

Love the sockeye salmon, unique to Vancouver! The raw salmons that I have seen in all other parts of the world is orange in colour, but this one is red in colour, fresh from the seawater. The salmon aburi is a must try :)

I don't know why everyone claims that Miku is the best Japanese restaurant because the waiters are friendly, good service and good food. This was the complete opposite for me because they treat me very poor unlike another people maybe I am just 18 and I went there by myself. On a weekday in the evening, I decided to go... More

Description
We specialize in Aburi, or flamed-seared sushi, which was developed nearly a century ago in Japan. The act of applying fire directly and lightly sear is known to enhance the natural flavors of the fish. Miku owner, Seigo Nakamura, innovated the Aburi concept by creating speciality sauces, using non-traditional Japanese ingredients, to complement the unique taste properties of each fish. Miku Restaurant is within walking distance from the Pan Pacific Hotel, Canada Place, Trade & Exhibition Centre, IMAX Theatre, Cruise Ship Terminals and Sea Bus. If shopping downtown, join us for lunch and re-energize. It's entrance is at the corner of Howe Street and Canada Place Way, overlooking the east cruiseship terminal at Canada Place.

Staying in Gastown

Neighbourhood Profile
Gastown
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
