We were way early for an appointment at a physiotherapist's nearby and had to kill an hour. So we wandered towards this very short street that I had seen from my car and that had some restaurants on it. Two of them were closed, so luckily we chose The Lions Den. It is Jamaican plus Japanese fusion-you can have one... More

Just love this family run restaurant, especially the curry goat and rice. When I have no time for dinner I stop in to get some patties to go. They put on a southern menu once in a while cooked by big Al, that's some corn bread and fried chicken to remember.

Funny little place on a funny little street. You may have never heard of "Japarribean" before, but you should definitely try it out! Ken and Junko are wonderful hosts and the food is delicious. It might look unassuming from the outside, but it's worth stepping through the door into the Lion's Den. We like trying out the different dishes and... More

This is a small, funky coffee shop and restaurant with a stuffed lion staring at you from above. The owners are a Chinese- African Canadian couple who live above. the food is eclectic and average ranging from Asian to Caribbean with local specialties thrown in for good measure. A local chef of Jamaican heritage, Big Al, who lives in my... More

We went to this place to have a small lunch. The owner is always welcoming and make sure you're enjoying your life. He would give you a tour of why it's called lion's den, and hist story is amazing. We tried the jerk chicken and it was yummy, a lot better than the one we tried in Jamaica! the only... More

Excellent and very personal service, lovely food in a most unlikely setting. Ken is the ultimate host. This epic place is a must when you visit Vancouver.

We visited this restaurant for the first time based on a recommendation of their omelets. However decided to try one of their Jamaican dishes--the jerk chicken. It was very good. The restaurant is small and cozy, the waiter is from the Bahamas, the cook is Japanese, the atmosphere is warm and friendly.

I liked this little cafe today. If you are looking for a good tasty breakfast but not that expensive, this is the place to be. Coffee is Very good to the last drop as they say. Big Al promised me to tell me the story of the big lion in his place another day. I am going to hear his... More

We stumbled across this place. The experience was like something out of a book. The owner is Jamaican. Funny and up beat. He offered us rum for breakfast because it's PM somewhere in the world. So naturally we did order a shot of Jamaican rum. The food was really yummy. Fast service and good price. The owner has a calendar... More

Went looking for a place to get a sandwich in the area with a friend. Randomly wandered into "Lions Den Cafe" asking if they served food. The response to my question was unique and full of character (I can't remember what the response was exactly). We sat at the Pacman table and played some Pacman (yes, the arcade game was... More
