Four of us went to dinner before a play. We had been out to a 'share' restaurant the night before, so a good comparison. The food here was upscale and very tasty. Lots of interesting drizzles and presentation. The service was excellent, but I found it a bit pretentious. We had a full dinner, but I think I might prefer this... More

We stayed in Kitsilano for our week in Vancouver and selected The Oakwood because of its menu offering and we were really satisfied with our decision. The creative array of dishes, designed for sharing, meant we got to taste three different dishes and still had room for dessert. Every meal was beautifully presented and full of flavour. The service was... More

Wow. What great place, the atmosphere was really intimate and warm, the staff super friendly and wanting to help. The food was my first "Canadian " fare and was delicious. I love having share plates, it's a great way for the group to share the same tasting experience and talk about what we tasted. Highly recommended. Especially if you're from... More

My first visit, but not my last. I like the concept as half the menu is designed for sharing. The portions are generous and every dish was delicious. We started with the kale salad; yeah, I'm not a fan of kale either but I wanted to lick the plate as the buttermilk dressing was that good! Then we shared the... More

Judging from the rave reviews I can only surmise the usual brunch cook called in sick. The ambiance was nice and the service was good, but the food was terrible. The burger bun was so oily on the outside you would not want to hold it with your fingers and the inside of the bun was soaked with greasy sauce.... More

This place is always full and it is not because of the location so that tells you something!! My favourite dish the kale brussel sprout salad is amazing but no matter what you order you won't be disappointed...all dishes deliciously and uniquely prepared . On top of the food I love the ambience, fast service and always friendly staff ..

Didn't expect their food to be so complicated. So many different flavors in every dish. Really nice surprise. Definite going back more often.

Went for Saturday brunch. Seemed that it was busy with folks mostly in their late twenties and thirties. Friendly and genial vibe. Relatively small selection on the menu but filling and tasty meals. Good and fast service. Comfortable and unhurried meal. We left satisfied and would return (for brunch or dinner) if we had the chance.

This is a nice restaurant, well served and nice environment. Canadian food, great salmon and local beers. I place to go, if you are in Vancouver.

Staying in Kitsilano

Neighbourhood Profile
Kitsilano is one of Vancouver's most transformative neighbourhoods. With a long history of coffee culture and poetry readings, its days of flower children and buskers may be long-gone, but not without leaving their mark on the number of organic restaurants and fair-trade cafes in the area. At the centre of Kitsilano ("Kits" for short) the almost idyllic expanse of Kits Beach offers the opportunity for a relaxed afternoon of beach volleyball or sunbathing. Along with the beachfront, nearby public pools and trendy street-beats have driven up the homeowners prices, making it a haven for stylish home goods stores, from design and furniture, to supplies and appliances. The multitude of both families and public spaces also make it a happening neighbourhood in the summer, when festivals and fairs take to Kits' streets.
