The food here is very good and cheap: the combos are enough for two people. The staff is friendly, but the restaurant can be crowded depending on the time. They have a take out service, which is also crowded. A great place overall.

Yamato Sushi is my favorite place to go. The sushi pieces are big, it's cheap, quick and delicious. It's very small inside so full very quick but you never wait that long. I love to go there.

This is great value. Sushi is very good and the service fast, friendly and warm. I went a couple times and will go again. Sushi comes with miso soup and salad.

Low grade sushi. Really low grade. Sometimes it's cash or debit only here. Totally tight squeeze. But it's cheap

We really enjoyed our dinner here. The server was really nice, she explained the specials of the day and was welcoming. The sushis were really good and exactly what we ordered. The place is very nice, not a super chic sushi place but then that might explain why the prices are not extravagant! Would go back on our next stop... More

Amazing quantity and quality of food. We had 30 pieces of sushi as seen in the picture for less than $20. Highly recommend this place

If you want some cheap Japanese food while visiting downtown Vancouver then this place would be a great choice. They have a lot more than just sushi. The food is good and quite cheap and the portions are big. A plate is about ten bucks per person. The place is small but we got a table quickly. They do a... More

Best Sushi take out around the area, I order from Yamato on a weekly basis. Great friendly fast service, and the food is to a good standard. Highly suggest if you're in the area, it also has some seating

Looking to eat on a Sunday night at 10 pm seemed an impossible task until a kind soul recommended this place. It is small and unassuming with one of the best rolls I had in a long time. We ordered the Dragon, Canuk, eel, spider and salmon and everything was very good and the prices better.

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
