I often drop by here for the bakery out front which carries a good selection of Chinese buns and cakes. As close to Hong King style as I have found in Vancouver. Recently had breakfast in the restaurant in the back and it was fine. Had a fried noodle dish from the breakfast menu and it was tasty. My partner... More

I've reviewed their other Boss branch in Metrotown Burnaby, but this one's even better with a full bakery therefore you can have fresh Hong Kong style bakes - chicken pie, curry puff, swiss rolls with different fillings, bo-law bao, pork buns.... I'm a big fan of the HK style cafe philosophy, where their menu features lots of set meals of... More

We had lunch here while visiting Vancouver for the Chinese New Year celebration. Even though we arrived about 1:30 pm, there was still a queue but we were seated in a clean booth within 10 minutes. The restaurant has a bakery in front with a brightly lit, cheerful, clean dining room in the back. The menu has lots of noodles... More

This place is just round the corner from the frenzied New Town bakery. Same kind of deal - bakery in the front, restaurant in the back. Did not eat in the restaurant but I was quite satisfied with my pastry items including a couple of turnovers and a raisin twist. I prefer coffee with my pastry, and there are numerous... More

Very quick service, great tasting food and cheap. My husband and I had lunch there recently. He had baked steak with a coke and I had combination noodles, the plate was huge and I couldn't finish it. Cost around $18. Staff were friendly and helpful. Basic booths but didn't bother us for a quick lunch

Everything that you can find in a typical Chinese cafe from your standard toast and Marconi breakfast to fried noodle and spring roll. Also for afternoon, you can have egg tarts or coconut buns. Prices are decently economical.

During a recent visit to Chinatown, just nipped in to the Bakery part of this establishment to grab a few snacks. The BBQ pork buns were good, but the spring rolls were to die for - fresh, crisp, light, tasty, flavourful delights that, unlike the rest of Vancouver, were easy on the pocketbook. These spring rolls left the ones I'd... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
With the recent exodus of massive new building projects hitting the neighbourhood, Chinatown; which has always been one of the city's most vibrant areas; is even more buzzing and buoyant than ever before. Playing host to some of the city's best pan-Asian cuisine, from fusion food to traditional home-cooking, Chinatown has remained faithful to its roots as a space which clambers with shop signs and welcomes diners to the table. More that that, it has a hip experimental vibe to it, with trendy pop-ups and catchall market shops. The biggest of Canada's Chinatowns, it is also home to an expansive Chinese garden whose manicured grounds inspire and delight, its ponds and pagodas drawing walkers in for an stroll. Take in the red streetlights, the playful awnings, and the upbeat air that suffuse this area.
