Wasn't expecting a lot as this was the 'dine out' specials, which usually means cheapened down somehow. Went in early and we were the only people in the room, and every other restaurant was full so a bit disconcerting. I shouldn't have worried. Place filled up quickly. Reception showed my guest to the table, I like that. (often they just... More

There was nothing wrong, but the place somehow lacks excitement, ambiance and atmosphere. Service was courteous and attentive, food was good, place has a bar like noise level. For $70 a person (salad, main and a couple of glasses of wine), i was hoping for something more...memorable. There are good people working in there, i just think the ownership needs... More

We walked to Yaletown after the game and looked for Brix. It is actually on Hamilton street! Tasty food and excellent service. The manager comped one of our dishes because we walked around the block looking for the entrance. Totally unexpected. Delicious and will go back.

Thank you Graham (entertainment manager) for one heck of a fabulous evening. You have quite a group of well trained staff who know how to treat their customers right. Malina, our server, made us feel like we were her only responsibility, that evening. Everyone was smiling and happy, it really was amazing. Everyone in our party had nice things to... More

Was welcomed at the door as if I were a returning well known guest (actually first time there). The restaurant was very nicely appointed. The table we were sat at was tastefully set up. There was a guitarist playing and singing but at a low level so it was background music and not intrusive. Conversation was carried on with easy.... More

We had seen a newspaper review of this restaurant, saying how good it was, and we totally agree. We were initially put off by the website reference to live music, as that can drown out conversation, but the singer/guitarist was very pleasant to listen to and enhanced our evening. The serving staff were knowledgeable and their recommendations spot on. The... More

Went on a Friday night. No reservations, but it is a huge restaurant so no problem getting in. Service was good, too bad the food was average at best. I had Cassoulet with duck. The meal was extremely salty. Others had Tuna tataki and the fish was tired. Don't think I'll go back.

Made a reservation to Brix after reading TripAdvisor reviews and it didn't disappoint. My wife and I were looking for a romantic place to finish off our week in Vancouver and Brix & Mortar delivered. Very friendly and efficient team ( thank you Jordan for all your recommendations). Food was terrific - I had the cheese selection to start and... More

A Yaletown icon for 15+ years, Brix Restaurant has said goodbye to its downstairs cocktail lounge, George, and brought the newly renovated space together with Brix under one roof and one new name - Brix & Mortar. With the new concept comes a refreshed food and beverage program-including 60+ wines by the glass-offered with the same on-point service, starting at 5:00 pm daily. The new menu features modern Canadian cuisine with subtle French, Italian and Asian influences and locally sourced ingredients. Accessible from both Homer and Hamilton St., Brix & Mortar offers 228 seats, with 80 situated over two outdoor patios, including the iconic outdoor courtyard-a favourite for hosted events and weddings. The downstairs space has undergone an exciting redesign, creating a fine-dining room suitable for any occasion or appetite.

Staying in Yaletown & False Creek North

Neighbourhood Profile
Yaletown & False Creek North
Yaletown has risen from the ashes of its rough-and-tumble industrial past into one of Vancouver's new chicest neighbourhoods. The place responsible for originating of the phrase 'skid row' might not call to mind independently-owned boutiques and terraced cafes, but having swallowed the waterfront lines of False Creek North, the resulting amalgamation transformed the area into an elegant, stylish hotspot with a view. Its youthful vibe owes to the many young families and young professionals who live there, bolstering nightlife and restaurant variety along its cobbled streets. It is the flagship neighbourhood for modern revitalization, and the It-Spot for boutique hotels and modish eats.
