When to this restaurant on a whim. It was recommended by a friend. The ambiance was ruined by a small group of very loud customers. Service was prompt and courteous. Food was tasty. Price in the upper range. Didn't drink wine. Would have enjoyed it more if the noise level from the next table did not overwhelm and annoy. Something... More

There are so many better fine dining Italian restaurants in Vancouver than il Nido. It was extremely overpriced and the food is average and not much to excite the senses. The owner Franco Felice, is a very arrogant and rude individual. I dined there years ago and also displayed some of my art work there. He did nothing to promote... More

This restaurant is hidden away in a courtyard off Robson and Thurlow. It has a low-lit, romantic feel to it, but at lunch all the customers wore business suits. I had the spaghetti with mussels, which came with julienne veggies and a lemon butter sauce, and the chocolate torte for dessert. The complimentary bread was soft and delicious, served with... More

Two days ago my husband and I came across this lovely restaurant at 780 Thurlow Street. Our meals were delicious and the service was perfect. If you are after great Italian food, this is the place to go to. We can highly recommend the Café Il Nido. Make sure you check it out.

We have been to Cafe Il Nido many times in the past. As with our previous visits, the food and the service were excellent. The atmosphere is quiet and intimate. It is an excellent choice in downtown Vancouver for a couple's night out.

This restaurant has been around for quite a few years, and we dine here on occasion. This time we came away thinking that we must eat there more frequently. Everything was right. Quiet atmosphere. Service just right. My wife had the spaghetti with prawns. I had the tuna. They were both great. Our choice of wine, 1/2 litre, was excellent -... More

I accidentally found this place, it wasn't on google maps but it was raining, getting late and I needed to find somewhere fast. A small sign caught my eye from a side alley. I was in the mood for Italian so I thought I'd try it. First impressions were "tidy, romantic little place" It seemed the manager and a new... More

We came upon this place on our last night in Vancouver. We were early and it was not very busy. The waitress was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Loved the food, it was beautifully presented and tasted great. It was a wonderful experience and we loced every minute of it. A perfect ending to our Vancouver visit.

Having just spent three weeks in Canada , our last lunch here we fell across this Italian restaurant, so in we went. The service was robotic , in fact we were just numbers on a seat. However the saving grace was the food, when the bill came 18% was added onto it. In retrospect when I return next year, though... More

Previous reviews and the restaurant’s own website promise an Italian experience that is out of the ordinary. Having lived in Italy for two months last summer, we were up for the challenge. We were therefore surprised to see the lunch menu included not much beyond the usual lasagna and pasta Bolognese, as well as an overpriced caprese. But we decided... More

Description
Since opening in 1988, Il Nido has consistently ranked in the top echelon of Vancouver Restaurants. Here, BC's finest ingredients are used to create dishes reminiscent of Northern Italy - "the food of kings, peasants and, everyone in between". Traditional fish, meat and pasta dishes are made with the use of non-traditional herbs and spices, such as saffron and ginger. Sauces are lean and light. Fresh fish and vegetables are staples. Desserts are home-made.
With its elegant yet, casual atmosphere, muted/understated decor and sunny patio, this "Nest In The City" is a destination for those who enjoy wonderful food and good conversation. Groups of up to 50 are welcome and custom menus are easily designed with organic, gluten free, and vegetarian options available. As Il Nido continues as one of Vancouver's finest restaurants, evolving with imagination and inventiveness, its motto remains: Everyone Leaves Happy.
