Service was spot on. Very knowledgeable about the menu and the food. Very friendly. Unfortunately when my steak came out, it was tough to cut through on the outside, but it was still tender on the outside. Our waitress brought me another steak - it was delicious! Then dessert was on the house because of my steak. Table by the... More

Nice location, looking promising and we have to say that staff was very friendly. It was the food that was disappointing: salmon was dry and clearly frozen (understandable to have frozen fish, but it is possible to get good quality fish that is like fresh after thawing), ribs also dry... Out of 8 people, noone was satisfied.

Seven of us met at The Boathouse for dinner after the raising of the Reconciliation Pole at UBC. We arrived as the sun was setting - a fantastic red sun sinking down behind the Strait of Georgia, with ships moored in the bay. I ordered fish and chips with a local beer, but exchanged with my spouse who had ordered... More

At the end of our holiday went her with relatives living in Vancouver. We had an amazing time, good company, great food and super service. Notwithstanding this, the sunset was amazing. we were having such a great time we didn't realise all the other customers had gone and the staff were waiting to go home. if you are ever in... More

We stopped for a late lunch during the week. We had the place almost to ourselves. We were seated upstairs right by the window and had a great view. The service was friendly and the food was good. The chowder was a bit bland for my taste but the Caesar salad was very good. The Dungeness crab claws did not... More

From the moment we walked in we knew our experience was going to be great. It was a Monday evening so very light crowd. We sat on the pub side with a great View. Our server Craig was phenomenal. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and how each item was prepared. He also offered to take photos of our... More

A birthday celebration turns into a disaster! Six of us order halibut the monthly feature. Five dinners arrive. We ask where the the sixth is. They don't know but reassure us it's on the way. It arrives 10 minutes later only to be raw. Cannot comprehend a restaurant that specializes in fish and it comes out raw. By the time... More

I think the boathouse has gone down in recent years. The service and food are good, but the food is not worth the prices they are charging. You can get a better meal for those prices at other restaurants. The view of English bay is amazing though. I also think the restaurant could use a refresh, the decor is looking... More

We visited another Boathouse in Richmond & Arbutus and love this one the most ! Even no window side seating but still enjoy it! Foods are best and services are excellent ~ they have the crab festival and even we're not picked the special menu but we can still just add $10 to have 3 course with soup or salad... More

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
