Our server was a fantastic girl from Ireland, she was charming and lively. Our bartender was Irish as well, and poured an excellent pint of Guinness. Love the fact that there are no screens up everwhere, music was at a volume you could still speak over. Oh an they have authentic Tayto crisps. Regrets? Only that I hadn't discovered how... More

If you want a Guinnes why not be served by a waitress from Ireland?! They must have 100 different whiskey to choose from ranging in price from <$10 A drink to almost $100. Some rare brands to choose from. Also had the deep fried "pork scratchings" which were really good!

Located in the heart of Gastown just within sight of the Gassy Jack statue. Lot of the staff are Irish and they sell Tayto crisps! No TV which is not a bad thing. Genuinely feels like an Irish pub.

The Irish Heather accommodated a party of 11 after our booking at the Irish Pub 2 doors down had been mixed up/lost. Nonetheless, the serving staff seemed a bit impatient to take our order and the atmosphere was a bit frenetic. I ordered the steak and Guinness pie which came as a pasty boat filled with meat stew and topped... More

Behind the Irish Heather, in an alley, is a door to a sort of speakeasy called the Shebeen. This place has a seriously extensive collection of whiskeys, from Bourbon to rare single-malt scotches. I had an 18 year old Bowmore and was by no means disappointed. This place is a terrific spot to duck into for a quick, refined drink.... More

The whiskey tasting set was actually a highlight of my Vancouver trip - totally recommend it! We also enjoyed listening to live fiddling and top-notch service - thank you!

We popped into The Irish Heather a couple weeks back and had a fantastic experience. Our server, Dionne, was extremely knowledgeable on all things scotch, had an outgoing personality, great accent and simply made our night! We will be back for another night of great drinks, eats and service in the New Year. Thanks again Dionne!

We actually dropped in at the Irish Heather 3 times during our week in Vancouver, once for dinner and the other two for drinks. The feel of the place is really great and the staff are friendly and helpful. We had an enjoyable dinner that was all very good, the lemon curd dessert was fabulous. They pour some great drinks... Considering they are marketing themselves as a gastropub the food was no where near up to par. The flavour was lacking and there was little to no care put into presentation. The service was also lacking for what one would expect of a gastropub. I would say this was pub fare with pub style service. I will not be returning... More

Staying in Gastown

Neighbourhood Profile
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
