Absolutely delicious food and friendly, welcoming service in a beautiful setting. Wonderful Mother's Day dinner for four. Deep fried potatoes were so good we ordered a second platter. Comes with a creamy yogurt dip that was cool and refreshing. I ordered the traditional platter with lamb shank, which was tender and delicious. Came with a large serving of Afghan rice,... More

Good quality restaurant. Perfect 88/100 health inspection score on tomati io, authentic food and decor, unique ambiance. They have a very large menu with plenty of vegetarian dishes so I ordered a vegetarian platter - my kabuli palaw was delicious and I especially loved a cooked spinach. My sister ordered lamb shish kebabs - the lamb was from NZ, very... More

This restaurant is the first afghani restaurant in Canada. I believe it, as I first went there in 1975, it is as good today as it was then. Best enjoyed in a group. Not a place to rush. Expect to take your time, 1.5 to 2.5 hours. They have HUGE platters to share. Many, many dishes from one of the... More

A possibly overlooked gem of a restaurant and dining / cultural experience (at least by me, as it has been perhaps 20 years since I have been here!) - really, it should not be missed! If one is somewhat familiar with Indian or Persian cuisine, then you'll notice some familiarity with the items and names of dishes, though done in... More

We took our 14 month old with us for supper early one evening and we're pleasantly surprised. The food was superb. Even the toddler ate it all! We opted for a shared platter since we had never eaten Afghan food before. I'm not generally a fan of lamb, but here it was excellent. The service was friendly, fast, and courteous.... More

I have been to this restaurant a couple times as people tend to choose this place for their birthday gathering due to the unusual ambience and their belief that they will have a real afghani styled experience. Personally, I don't know how similar the setting is to A cafe in Kabul but at least it keeps you looking over your... More

An awesome place, one of its kind. Loved the ambience. Good food and service. The live dance on weekend makes your visit even more memorable. A bit expensive than other restaurants in town, but worth it!!!

There is also a place were you can seat on the ground with pillow the looks very nice. I ordered lamb shish kebab plate and it is very good plate. The lamb comes from NZ so you can... More

The food and the atmosphere was incredible, but we were happy to have called ahead to make a reservation, as it was pretty busy when we arrived. The music was nice, although spotty at times, and the service was kind of slow. The price of the food could have been cheaper, or bigger portions. Sitting on the cushions was sooo... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Granville Island & Fairview
One of the favoured neighbourhoods for a day out, Granville Island's packed theatres and art studios, hobby shops and book stores, restaurants and bars, all offer a plethora of activities and entertainment options, leaving no one bored. The highlight of the area is the Fisherman's Wharf, where the seagulls overhead and the smell of the sea invigorate its many visitors, some of who are there to shop the fresh wares at the public market, and others of whom have arrived to take in the eclectic atmosphere. A popular seafood destination, and Vancouver's leading spot for improv and amateur theatre, Granville Island is an indulgent, welcoming entertainment centre in any season or time of day.
