This is a restaurant with relative expensive food, but quality of food is one of the best in Vancouver. The seafood is exquisite and everything is fresh and tasty.

Love this place! You can try very authentic Japanese soul food here. Priced okay too. Best way is to order few dishes and share. It is izakaya style so bit noisy (energetic).

Kingyo is a small, noisy social place unlike any typical Japanese restaurant - but sooo good. Our table tried some of the warmer dishes on the cold day rather than sushi. From hot stone fired Koby beef to sizzling meatballs with rich mushroom sauce it all were winners. Service was fun and attentive but reservation is highly recommended.

I've been to Kingyo a few times now, and never been disappointed. The service is excellent, and the food is just delicious. One or two dishes always inspire an "omg" from myself or dinner date. The new BBQ beef dish is probably the best slow cooked beef I've ever tasted, with a very unique flavor. Highly recommended. Perfect for dates.

My husband and I walked many many blocks from our hotel to try to this restaurant and we were not disappointed. They were very busy but they were open late so we were seated right away when we came at around 9:30pm. Eating here is not like dining at a regular sushi place we always do and that's why I... More

Had dinner at Kingyo on New Year's Eve. Must thank my wife for finding the place and making the reservation. An early dinner that with a few drinks lasted a couple hours. We loved the: raw takowasabi, fresh sashimi salad, yellowtail sashimi, kani meshi, and fried chicken dish (forget name). The waiter was pleasant and did her best, notwithstanding light... More

This busy restaurant drew me into it's warm exterior to look at the lunch menu. The efficiency of the wait staff impressed me and once seated I decided to order the chefs choice steak bowl. The presentation of a tabletop element then delivery of my bowl cooked to the exact specifications of my very helpful waiter Kouki made this experience... More

This was recommended by my favorite shusi restaurant in North Vancouver.....they said it was good and they were right. At lunch....get there early as it gets busy fast. (Opens at 11:30) They have a great daily bento box but they only have 10 and I was lucky to get one and it was great..can't wait to try dinner there.

A great restaurant with a lively atmosphere. When I went it was really busy being so close to Christmas and a blizzard in town but the staff served me very quickly and the food I had was amazing. I'd recommend the Kobe beef that was not only tasty but also fun to cook on your own hot stone. The sushi... More

I LOVE THIS PLACE! I went here because it was highly recommended by a local in Vancouver. This place was absolutely amazing! FOOD: We ordered the sashimi platter and blue fin tuna sashimi. The fish was fresh and tasty. But the true highlight of our meal was the blue fin tuna sashimi that just melts in your mouth. It was... More

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
