My wife and I went for a man early dinner. The place has a nice feel to it with good decorations and seating. You can sit along the sushi bar, some private booths or the 2 tatami rooms. We ordered tuna and salmon sushi, vegi tempura, BC Roll and a California Roll. We asked real crab meat in the California... More

I had the privilege of going to David Suzuki's favorite Japanese Restaurant and what a wonderful experience it was, a great evening with the Suzuki's and I venture to say we experienced the best of Kibune. The food was great and so was the service. Traditional tatami room gave a very traditional feel to the whole experience.

This is a nice older Sushi restaurant in the more traditional style. Our booth had the sunken cut-out for your feet - not everyone's "cup-of-tea", but we liked it. We had a varied selection of sushi types & some beers. All the sushi was very fresh. Service was prompt, however it was an older woman who looked very tired and... More

Considerng this place bills itself as an "authentic" japanese restaurant - it would be out of business faster than you can fillet a fish if it were actually in Japan. Very substandard service.

I love this restaurant. They have Japanese chef and the food is very authentic. The sushi is always fresh and the price is very reasonable

Been here for dinner, the settings are very much like a traditional japanese restaurant. Waitresses in traditional costume. Ordered full menu and it did not disappoint. Very good sushi! Price was also very affordable. Recommended.

I take people who truly understand Japanese food here. This would be a typical experience in Japan, which is what makes it so remarkable here in Vancouver. You'll find very little "fusion" here. This is about what makes Japanese food and service great.

We had takeout. We found the sushi tasteless and very coarse in texture. The fish didn't taste very fresh. The gyoza was quite good though. We used to eat at Kibune years ago and thought the food was very good back then.

This is a nice place to go to for a healthy and delicious sushi lunch. It's not cheap but the quality of the food is really fresh. I recommend this place for anyone who wants to eat sashimi because it's safe to eat. If you don't see what you want on the menu, they will make it for you. This... More

Staying in Kitsilano

Neighbourhood Profile
Kitsilano is one of Vancouver's most transformative neighbourhoods. With a long history of coffee culture and poetry readings, its days of flower children and buskers may be long-gone, but not without leaving their mark on the number of organic restaurants and fair-trade cafes in the area. At the centre of Kitsilano ("Kits" for short) the almost idyllic expanse of Kits Beach offers the opportunity for a relaxed afternoon of beach volleyball or sunbathing. Along with the beachfront, nearby public pools and trendy street-beats have driven up the homeowners prices, making it a haven for stylish home goods stores, from design and furniture, to supplies and appliances. The multitude of both families and public spaces also make it a happening neighbourhood in the summer, when festivals and fairs take to Kits' streets.
