Walking down the stairs into a funky decorated little place, mismatching tables and chairs with walls painted in graffiti like styling. Excellent service and menu offerings. My choice, the Sun Burger. I'm not vegetarian but enjoy the vegetarian fare at times. This burger was one of the best regardless of meat or no meat. Highly recommend this venue

The menu has different options we I appreciate. It can get very noisy though at lunch hour so if you plan a quite conversation choose a different spot.

Very cool place. Food is good with very reasonable prices. But the atmosphere is way more than good. All the walls are painted with murals and all furniture, lights, salt & pepper shakers, etc. are from the 60's or 70's. This is the kind of spot that Bob Dylan would have spent his afternoons writing songs. And I love how... More

I've been there a couple times and only during an outing with colleagues (their birthdays and they get to pick the place). The food is mediocre at best. I was there this past week and it took over 30 minutes to get our food - but in fairness, we were a group of 10. However, customer service is lacking! My... More

I have personally been going to the Underground Café for probably about 10 years. They are located in one of Winnipeg's Exchange District's largest single buildings, the Silpit Building on 70 Arthur St. in the basement. Why is it a hidden gem? 1. The décor. You walk in and immediately are reminded of a restaurant called the Underground Pizza that... More

The Sun Burger is a no-brainer -- always filling and great tasting. But the soups are an adventure not to be missed. As a place that seems to be vegetarian - I'm always happy when my meat loving friends walk away full and satisfied. The staff is eclectic, but be friendly and engage and you will get a whole lot... Never heard of this place. Absolutely delicious coffee. Home made soup to die for. Had the mushroom today. It says right in the menu, "Remember, good food made from scratch takes time to prepare." Too bad they're only open for breakfast and lunch. Close at 4:00. If your in the exchange district do yourself a big favor. Making plans to... More

Great to go for some lunch. I really like the food. A mix of cuisine, and I believe it's vegan friendly as well, if that floats your boat.

Went there today October 31st for the 1st time. I decided to try it out because of the reviews online about good food, service, etc. I ended up sitting there for about 15 minutes without being acknowlwdged, while at least 4 tables who arrived after me were served. Twice I tried to flag down a staff member to no avail.... More

The space is funky, the service is good, and the Sun Burger is delicious. I'm definitely not a vegetarian, but the vegetarian Sun Burger is definitely one of my favourite burgers. By the way, the photo currently shown for the Underground Cafe is most definitely not of the Underground Cafe. Note how that photo shows a place that is decidedly... More
