This restaurant if you can get in offers a taste of what the locals love. Good beer, great food, and local music to round it out.

I had a nice rainbow beet salad, although it was on the small side for an entree. My husband had the bacon jam burger and said it was good for 'pub food'. This place is very popular but small, so it was hard to get...More

Classic look and feel of an olde English pub /. tavern BUT that's where the comparison ends. The food at the Townhouse was some of the best experienced in some time. Salmon pate had a subtle smoke flavour present in the background yet not overwhelming....More

We definitely wanted to visit this pub as it was central to town. You can sit outside too but we got a booth inside. The decor is really nice with quaint artifacts and paintings. The hostess and the servers are very friendly and helpful. We...More

I've been to this pub twice and have enjoyed each time. The atmosphere is friendly, the spaces small and intimate, and the beer and food fresh and tasty.. We had the Propeller IPA and Terry's Best Bitter, their own brewed beer. The food was the...More

Nice place to stop if you just want to have a beer. They only sell craft beers but the waitress was very helpful and advised us what to try. Didn't eat but the food looked good.

We were so impressed by our meal and the service and the Townhouse. We had a variety of chop boards and the daily special ( which was phenomenal). Also local beers and wine available - we would not hesitate To go back next time we...More

Some staff friendly, but others not. Bartender was the best thing going for this place. Ordered the scallops and bacon. Reasonable price but got there and they were burnt. Were sent back to kitchen and reply was this was how they were served. Grew up...More

Hi Simon, I'm very sorry you were not pleased with your experience. As stated on the menu, they are cooked on the grill so they do inevitably have a few grill marks, which many actually find add to their flavour. As our manager/occasional bartender explained,...More

After reading so much about this place, it didn't live up to it's hype. My husband loved his seafood chowder $18 but I was very disappointed in the seafood board. More bread and crackers than anything. For $28 I should have gone elsewhere. Local beers...More

Dear Inichol, We’re so glad to hear that your husband loved the chowder. And we’re very sorry to hear you found the seafood board disappointing. I’m also afraid there may have been a mistake made on your bill, as I don’t think the seafood board...More

Description
The Townhouse is a cozy, neighbourhood pub, focused on great Nova Scotian craft beer, and fresh, local food. We have 9 taps of NS microbrews, including our own Terry's Best Bitter, brewed upstairs, cask-conditioned, and served on a traditional hand pump. Our guest tap changes regularly, featuring one-offs & seasonals from breweries across the province. Our eclectic menu starts with the best local, seasonal products from the area - from seafood to root veggies - and offers them up in traditional and un-traditional ways. Our kitchen takes great pride in making (almost) all of our food - breads, desserts, pates, pickles, spice mixes, dressings, and chutneys - from scratch, in house. You'll find old world pub favourites, hearty main dish salads, rustic taverna fare (Tapas boards, oysters on the half shell), and dishes from farther afield (Mexican Pizza, Korean Pork & Kimchi Burger, Thai Jungle curry). We are fast becoming famous for our ultra-rich Lobster Chowder and Polish Cheesecake. Although inspired by the neighbourhood pubs of the UK and Ireland, the Antigonish community and our wonderful regulars give the pub it's real colour and relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Weekly events include live jazz and trivia during the school year, and every Sunday we serve a roast and host a traditional Irish music session from 6:30pm.
