An impromptu date night made so much better by choosing Painters Hall for dinner. Had the pork belly & scallop appetizer and salmon with polenta for main course. Scallops and salmon cooked perfectly and all accompaniments were thoughtful and beautifully presented. Wagners service was top notch. Can't wait to return!

I love this place -- just excellent meals, great service. Small inside but you do not feel cramped. Nice decor.

Good friendly service and tasteful music. Excellent fresh crusty bread with so so hummus. The beef short ribs were divine and were accompanied by very tasty risotto and beets. Decadent chocolate cake to finish. Quite expensive.

I come here so often that I thought it was finally time to write a review. The food is unique and inventive and the service is warm and friendly. Absolutely love it here, it is a bit on the pricey side but it's well worth it!

Four of us went for a Saturday night dinner. Great atmosphere for chatting and catching up as it is a small dining room and therefore not too loud. Food was great. Service friendly and attentive. Delicious chocolate cake!

Lovely, warm, never had to worry about taste or presentation. Staff is lovely! The wine is a good selection and the stemware very pleasing. I go there often and I am never disappointed.

The best part of the meal was the variety of the menu. Between 4 of us we had 2 different apps and 3 different mains. We all shared and tried everything. Nothing disappointed and the overall quality was amazing. Service was top notch and we will be back soon.

I recently had a reunion with an old friend and we decided to wine and dine at the best Bistro in Barrie. On the way there the cab driver recommended Painters Hall as an upscale to our original choice - so we complied. Since it was a celebratory reunion we ordered two inexpensive bottles of wine and asked the server... More

When you receive the honour of the owner taking your order and making sure everyone is comfortable, happy, fed and keeps the drinks flowing you will always come back. We had some picky eaters and a glass of milk order and it was severed with a smile. You will not be disappointed. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is cozy,... More

Wagner the waiter was good, brought sparkling instead of flat. Soup was really excellent asparagus and something else. Red Thai curry mussels were really awesome. They were really stingy with the bread for some reason. Lamb rack was beautifully cooked but tasteless, he forgot the glaze. Sides of curried cauliflower and squash puree were very good. Cinnamon beignets were excellent.... More
