I love this place. It's an all you can eat but not buffet but where you order small quantities off the menu. They have many delicious sushi options, as well as many others for those not interested in seafood selections. Must try the bacon wrapped scallions!

Sushi is very fresh. Rolls are tasty...nice that do not include pano which seems to be the trend. Service can be slow, depending who you get.

As ones who don't really care for sushi, we had stayed away from Hana. Friends told us of their experience so we decided to give it a try. Certainly a different experience and the idea of filling out requests as you finish items so that you have a continual supply of food until you are full is good. Managed to... More

Made valentines day reservations to suprise my wife. Arrived at the time of the reservation and found 6 other groups in line in front of us all with reservations for the same time and no tables held for any of us and that we would be waiting at least 30 minutes. My wifes favourite restaurant and we were very disapointed.

Wonderful dishes and quick service make this a must try place in Sarnia. Come hungry because all you can eat is what makes this place a great bargain for lunch!

Today the Lunch Club ordered 216 pieces of Sushi/Sashimi, 24 spring rolls, 24 Crab Puffs, 3 orders of both Beef Fried Noodle and Chicken Udon. Our order was for takeout and as we arrived the last packages were being bagged up. The Sushi/Sashimi was very refreshing and by ordering the party trays we were able to sample a large variety... We visited Hana over the holidays and found the food to be good. The rolls were very good. The appetizers were ok. The spring rolls were not even close to authentic (more PC frozen appies quality). Deep fried gyoza is just wrong. I've never tried beef gyoza before this place, and it definitely will not be on my wish list.... More

We showed up at prime time for dinner in party of seven. We were greeted and seated promptly. Question was posed if they had gluten-free soy sauce. Bottles of gluten-free soy sauce were brought out for the entire table. Orders were picked up promptly and brought out as soon as ready. Fare was of excellent quality and portion sizes did... More

This USED to be our go to family gathering restaurant. The last few times we have been, nothing has been good. We always make a reservation, but there are often mistakes, due to the language barrier. This is definitely an issue when booking the party room and you arrive to find it full of other people. The service has been... More

Several of us came to Sarnia to eat at a particular restaurant which happened to be closed that day. We were helpfully directed to Hana, and enjoyed ourselves greatly, once we figured out how the menu works! See below.

My wife and I had lunch here yesterday (August 9, 2011). The restaurant opened on July 29th at the old Pepper Jack’s / Kelsey’s location.
We enjoyed our meal. The cost, excluding trip, was $32.95 for the two of us. Japanese restaurants seem to be a little on the pricey side so this amount was not unexpected.
On this particular day they were having problems with their credit/debit card system, and it was a “cash-only” operation. Patrons were directed to a cash machine at a nearby bank in the same plaza.
The lunch clientele seemed mostly drawn from the casually dressed vacation crowd on this day.
The restaurant advertises itself as “all you can eat”, but it is not buffet style. When we sat down we had to fill out an order form using the menu as a guide and the dishes were then brought to our table. That arrangement might be a problem to diners unfamiliar with Japanese food. How do you know what to try without seeing what was on offer? We filled out our order form, trying to judge how much food to ask for. We eventually placed a second order – just for dessert and there was no delay in having the additional food delivered. But with this kind of ordering system the waitress will likely make 5 to 10 trips to your table. When they get busy, I wonder if there will be delays? We experienced none however.
Everything we ordered was very fresh and tasty and we enjoyed each and every dish.
I guess here in the West we expect our waitresses to have a smile on their faces and generally give the impression that they enjoy their work and appreciate us being there. At Hanas, the waitresses seem to be mostly Chinese girls, and they show very little personality with the customers. To be fair, one or two did respond with a smile to other diner’s friendly remarks, but our waitress was blank-faced throughout. That needs improving.
The décor is really nice and the washrooms are spacious and high class.
I hope this restaurant is a success here in Sarnia and we will have another permanent outlet for Japanese food. They just need to get the waitresses to learn how to smile as they deliver really tasty food.
