Our family grabbed some treats here while doing the Christmas Market. Good Coffee and cocoa. Beautiful quiches. Nice pastries and a great assortment of cookies. They had cider too!

We are often short on time to get to the Soulpepper Theatre as we come in on the GO Train from Oshawa. This is a perfect spot for quick eats that are tasty and filing and seldom disappoint. Great choice for grilled sandwiches on tasty breads, a variety of quiches and salads as well as fresh wraps and other quick... More

We ordered a couple of cookies and a piece of quiche. The cookies were excellent...a maple walnut cookie and a smoked chocolate sea salt caramel cookie. Wow! The quiche took a long time to get heated and brought out to us and then, it was not hot nor heated all the way through. The broccoli quiche was just OK. The... More

I bought some GF Lavender Shortbread Cookies and some GF Lemon Poppyseed Biscotti, and both were delicious. They are made in the same facility as the gluten-filled treats, so may not be appropriate for the very sensitive. A nice sweet shop in the distillery district.

I first had a cupcake from Sweet Escape when I attended a wedding and the bride and groom had these instead of a cake. Fortunately for me I got to taste 4 different cakes. They are all totally amazing. I have since bought from here many times and I have never been disappointed.

This is one of the most reasonably-priced pre-theatre restaurants you can find in the Distillery District. I had the potato-and-broccoli soup and a chicken and pesto panini. My wife had a quiche and a broccoli salad; our friend had the same. We shared a very good cookie. Total cost -- I had a V-8 juiice as well -- for the... More

I went with a group of friends and we were so excited about the ice cream and the variety of flavours (a couple unique ones too, such as, roasted pineapple). Anyhow, we had wanted to try a couple before making our choice (I feel that that's normal for an ice cream parlour) and we got treated pretty rude. Benefit of... More

If you are ever in the Distillery District, in Toronto, be sure to stop in at this cafe. It is surely a hidden gem. Everything is made fresh on site.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
