This place awakened our senses. The overall experience was good - food was good as was the service. It is disappointing to me to read some of the reviews below. Yes, the tables were close and it did get loud, however, I imagine the tables are close and it was loud because the restaurant is so unique they want to... More

Was really excited to visit this place. The fact that they reconfirmed if we were going to make it to our reservation made me look forward to the experience even more. We entered the dining area and our server Gavin made sure we were comfortable. Right after we got used to the dark- we had a large group of people... More

The idea of the restaurant is amazing and we could of really enjoyed the experience but the way they handled it sucked. The tables were extremely close. So close that there was only room for the server to move between two tables. In fact when the person in the table behind us moved his chair back it even touched the... More

Tables are average spaced, not the fatherest but also not the closet. If there are guests who move the chairs a lot they could touch other chairs from back. On Saturday the noise level is indeed more frequently high. It's a task between server and guests, and we achieved some success, and the point is valid for us to find... More

Resturant has a great unique concept which is a must try, however the execution of the idea is a missed opportunity in my opinion. The tables are too close to each other, literally touching one another and if you have a noisy bunch of people in the adjacent table/s it ruins the entire experience. Filet Minion was tasty but the... More

You order your food in a lighted room, then wait for your server to follow him into a dark room. He is going to show you your seats and will bring what you ordered. The first 5 minutes in the dark room makes you feel anxiety, but because is a new experience you will experience it in a different way.... More

My girlfriend and I had a great time enjoying this unique experience. it was fun, different and very interesting. The food was good but I believe this particular venue to be more about the experience of eating in the dark than the food. If you go in expecting a superb gourmet meal, you are likely to leave disappointed.

My son wanted an interesting dining experience to celebrate his 16th birthday with friends. We plugged that into Google and O'Noir popped up. We were game for this and my son thought it was a great idea. The location is handy being central in the city and the space (an old jazz club) was a 'cool' environment (you see this... More

Sorry your experience was not so satisfactory. Birthday celebrations for youth occur frequently at ONoir and generally very positive, but your review with different views are helpful for kitchen staff to takes notes. Best wishes, More

I thought there would have been some light in the restaurant but it was pitch black. If you leave your eyes open your eyes are constantly trying to adjust and your brain is working overtime. Best to keep your eyes closed and enjoy. Staff were extremely attentive and supportive. Meal was delicious and the "surprise" wines were excellent. Despite the... More

I really enjoyed the experience. It really makes you appreciate what visually impaired people go through. To me, it's not so much about the food. If you want a 5 star dining experience, this isn't it. The food was good, and I enjoyed being surprised with two of the dishes. I found the interaction with other patrons very interesting also.... The experience is unique. The menu is limited but that does not take away the charm of this adventure. Our server Kamani was great, helpful and incite full. The three of us, 12 yrs of age, 84 yrs of age and myself were able to fully complete our meal through the use of our utensils and left hand food guidance.... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
