I have been excited to try Woodlot for many eons now & have finally had the privilege of visiting. It certainly WAS worth the wait. I have been to this establishment twice within the last month and cannot rant enough about how delicious, textured and well-prepared our meals were. For the first visit, we tried the mushroom appetizer, followed by... More

The ambiance was the most attractive part of Woodlot. Beautiful candlelight shining on wood gives it a quaint feel and warms you up. Some of the pastas were delicious, but the meat mains could use more flavor. They do have spectacular vegetarian options as well. I loved the innovative cocktail menu with the Game of Thrones theme. This is a... More

This place is a gem for vegetarians who are looking for good flavorful food. I would like you to imagine the scene from "ratatouille" the movie where the critic takes one bite of the dish and gets lost in it. I had ordered the Cauliflower Agnolotti Pasta which they make with carrot and orange mix sauce, and it was delicious.... More

I read a number of reviews on a number of sites before my meal. Those reviews fairly predict the food but don't warn enough about the room. The food is nice but merely so. The room is at best unattractive. The smell of smoke from a wood fire will not draw me back. This is a place for youngsters who... More

Interesting little nook, especially when coming in from the rain, with inviting smells and warm open fire kitchen. Decided to try the Slovenian Cabernet, very French nose, young but quite delicious. If you're expecting a traditional French onion soup as I was, you'll be disappointed, there's no beef essence, instead it's substituted with marmite as I just discovered. Guess that's... More

I wanted to eat at this restaurant because of the sourdough bread. My friend and I shared the sourdough spelt tagliatelle and the Lake Erie pickerel. Both of them were delicious. Everything was well balanced and the flavours were just right. The portion sizes were also pretty good. We ordered the pasta in the appetizer portion and I think it... More

Had a great evening at the Woodlot again. Love that they have a vegetarian menu to compliment the regular one. The French onions soup is amazing. Dessert was a "profiterole" that was disappointing. We were expecting light and crispy and this was dense and doughy. Still great ambience and good service.

In this trendy put of college street lies this charming restaurant. Frequented predominantly by locals the vibe is relaxed and intimate. Great food is served in a rustic environment. It is on the pricier side but I doubt you'll come complain.

My partner and I were visiting Toronto from the uk and heard so much about woodlot from our Torontonian friends. Supposedly it takes forever to get a booking. So we lucked out one Saturday night. Once we arrived it was pleasant . We had been seated and had a lovely waitress taking care of us. She was dry and very... More

The food was fresh, seasonal and expertly prepared. It was also unpretentious, low-key and well priced (for what it is - don't come here expecting a bargain. It was $200 for two people, including wine & cocktails, and well worth it). The lingcod with mung bean succotash was the highlight of the meal, though the halloumi crositini with kabocha squash... Staying in Little Italy

Neighbourhood Profile
Little Italy
Toronto's Little Italy is a city hotspot for cafe culture and nightlife. There's something for everyone in Little Italy, apparent from the cross-section of clubbers in glitzy dresses, and elderly couples arm-in-arm heading to their favorite wine or pasta spot. Cafes spill onto the wide sidewalks, pool lounges and bars are always teeming with noise and activity, and both outdoor and indoor marketplaces are packed with fresh fish, cured meats, and pungent cheeses. All of the activity makes it a perfect spot for people-watching, especially over a nice glass of red wine or a quick and sumptuous slice of pizza at one of the many eateries or trattorias in the area.
