I stopped in for a quick bite to eat before getting on the greyhound bus to head out of town. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was well prepared, tastely with nice sized portions. The washrooms were clean and smelled fresh which to be is always a big indicator of what goes on behind the kitchen doors.

We met friends for dinner on a warm Thursday evening and sat on the patio. The service was attentive and the food was good burgers, pasta, etc. They accommodated one guest's food restrictions well. I would go back.

Yes, shopping, on a Sunday and we were tired and didn't want to go home to cook. Sure, we could eat fast and cheap, but why do that when, for a few dollars more, you can get quality food? The Blake House is not the Keg Mansion! It's not crowded, it's not noisy, service is attentive, and portion size is... More

Nice building, but that was the best part. Service and food were ok. We all had steak, three different kinds. One was good, two were ok. The french fries were overdone and the bread was definitely not fresh.

My family attended this restaurant on a Saturday. Very dark but pleasing décor. Very noisy and hard to have conversations but this was understandable for a Saturday. We had an excellent server, who was pleasant and very competent. If it was only the décor and service, we might go back, but the food, however, was abysmal. All of the food was... More

Our Family wanted a Restaurant with some atmosphere and character to meet our daughter's boyfriend who was visiting for the first time from out of town . We also wanted to be able to see the ballgame but didn't want to go to a rowdy sports bar. Blake House was the perfect place. Staff were friendly, service was speedy and... More

Went this evening as a family with children. Turkey dinner was good, nice ambience. We were seated close to the door, by the bar and the tables felt small (round) for us which we didn't really like. There was a cold draft too. I don't think I'll be bringing my children but I would visit again just for drinks and... More

We sat outside and enjoyed our meal very much. We both had the pulled pork sandwich with a side that was delicious. (several options to choose from) Waitress was extremely nice and very accommodating to my dietary needs. The service is a little slow, not terrible, but we were in no rush. Prices are reasonable with a very diverse menu.... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
