I was excited to hear about another raw vegan cafe, when I found the cafe. First time I tried here the lady working there (not sure if she is owner) seemed so unhappy to deal with me and so unenthusiastic about the food. My boyfriend and I got different dishes but I think all of the same ingredients are in... More

Lived in the suburbs all my life in Scarborough and finally went to the St.Lawrence Market for the first time. As a vegetarian i was not impressed with the market, i guess i was expecting far more veggies and fruit. but 95% of the market is meat, fish and cheese. We were about to leave and find somewhere to eat... More

Last weekend we attended a raw cooking class conducted by the owners of Cruda Cafe. It was splendid! Claudia explained the benefits of eating raw and then continued to demonstrate 5 yummy recipes. Each was delicious! This class inspired us to start eating better at home.

In the downstairs of the St. Lawrence Market one will find this small takeout stall. The menu is varied and extensive.my girlfriend and I decided to try it on Saturdaymorning. Wow! It was so delicious. Onion crust, cashew cheese, salad. Really worth a visit if you are looking for something light but filling. Both of us will go back. Reasonable... More

My nineteen year old daughter and I visited the St Lawrence Market as part of her "Adventure Birthday". While exploring the market, and taking photos of all the colours and shapes, we were seeking out somewhere to eat. I am fussy where I eat and not a fan of fast food in "outdoor" spaces, so the Chinese, Pizza, Burger etc... More

Cruda Cafe is a raw, vegan store at St. Lawerence market. This is the type of food I normally eat, so I was excited to give it a try. I had the enchilada wrap, which was watery and bland. I also had the "tiramisu" dessert, which was really good. The Cafe is extremely pricey. My lunch, without a drink, was... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
