My workmates and I decided to go to Akco on St. Patrick's Day as the Pub we had made reservations for were too busy. Service was very good, food was good. I had a glass of red wine that was nice with my meal which was a Bento box with chicken, and fried foods. Didn't care for the noodles or... More

Pretty run of the mill sushi.. Service was OK, the girls basically just chatted and gossiped at the bar the whole time. We had the happy hour early discount on our meal which made it sort of a good deal, I believe it was at least 20% off? We had a sushi meal for two which consisted of 30 pc... More

Decent value and nice atmosphere for a lunch with a friend or colleague. I usually get a bento box filled with a good choice of chicken, beef, or fish, along with sushi, vegetables, noodles, and shrimp, plus salad and soup, all for about $12 in a nicely decorated room. I typically enjoy going there. It's not great Asian food, but... More

I come here for lunch or occasional dinner almost every week, with either by myself or a group of colleagues. Nice location (indoor on path), pleasant staffs and service, and quality food for the price. Recommended for people who are looking for nice sit-down dining for reasonable price in the heart of pricy downtown core. My favorites are spider rolls,... More

WORST SERVICE IN THE ENTIRE CITY! I made reservations for NYE for 6:30pm. Someone from the restaurant calls me at 3pm Dec 31 to ask if I can change my reservation to 5pm! I clearly explained that it was impossible, and was told not to worry about it as my reservation would be honoured for 6:30pm. On my way to... More

I eat at Akco Lounge frequently and they never fail to deliver very fresh and tasty sushi at moderate prices. Especially convenient in winter because Akco is in the PATH under the First Canadian Place. Crowded at lunchtime. Happy hour (and reduced prices) after 3pm. Tremendous vaue!! And don't miss the take out counter.

A busy financial downtown core's staple, Acko offers Japanese and Korean style food at reasonable prices. Super busy at lunch, very loud with chatter, but fast in-and-out in under an hour.

Akco, located in the Toronto underground PATH in downtown, has varied and tasty selection of sushi, as well as a number of less typical Japanese options from the owner's farm. Can't beat the food pricing (15% off, I believe) during the daily happy hour (5pm to 7 pm). It's also a great take-out if working late in the area.

I have eaten lunch here twice and both times have totally enjoyed my meal. The service is terrific and all staff are helpful, cheery and informative. The food is great. There is a mix of Korean and Japanese cuisine on the menu. The Kimchee is spicy and tasty. The sushi is fresh and appealing. The meatballs, yam fries and bento... More

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
