This place looks great but is really nothing special. Service is very slow, the place is as noisy as a subway platform at rush hour. The food was fine however nothing better than you'd get at a diner for 1/2 the price.

This place either packed or has a steady flow. Regardless - the crowd is primarily local. The food is typical bistro fare. My only critic is that they do not bring bread to the table without asking for it. True bistros bring bread as soon as the order is placed

First time eating here on the weekend. Wonderful decor, very French. The service was very, very attentive. Sat in a booth in the bar area and the waiters/bartenders took wonderful care of us. We ordered glass by the wine and were very pleased with the waiter's recommendation. We shared a small chacuterie plate to start. It came with a sellection... More

My grandfather had a favorite expression for a lack of leadership. "The fish rots from the head down." My trip to La Societe was truly indicative of a restaurant that cares more for its revenue than for the dining experience they provide. The most profitable restaurant diner is the experientialist, who is willing to pay for entire dining experience. The... More

We have had dinner several times at this restaurant and brunch a few times now. Everything is perfect each time we eat here. The service at dinner has been especially exceptional with Mark and a few other waiters. We have tried seafood platter, chicken, beef tenderloin, burger, steak frites, salad, Mac and cheese and a few other dishes and each... More

We sat by the window and the view was quite nice. My husband had the French onion soup and was disappointed with it but said his main course was very good. My daughter and nieces also said their steak was wonderful and enjoyed the lively nature of the restaurant. I would go back again as the atmosphere was very good.

Hadn't of known this was here had I not checked TA. It was a nice night out with a pretty good meal, but the mains seemed a bit overpriced. The burrata app is great.

Booked for a booth. Arrived and restaurant empty. Did not get a booth told that they had been previously reserved. Ate and left with the place still empty when we could have had one of their booths in the first place. Never again. Awful service by one of the worse managers and hosts alive when it comes to good customer... More

It was a very chilly Friday evening and the place was full. We were seated beside the bar which was a bit loud. Our very gracious waiter recommended an excellent glass of Italian red. Kale salad was a delightful surprise...soft, finely chopped with tomato and toasted breadcrumbs in a light vinaigrette. Steak frites was cooked medium rare as requested but... More

4 friends , we all enjoyed our winterlicious lunch , and were surprised by the portion size ( generous ! ) . Entrance a little confusing-- up the escalator . Parking validated in the evening only . Location is perfect for high end shopping and easy access to subway . Happy to be served by Patrick , fun and entertaining... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
Midtown is a dynamic part of Toronto with some of its most stylish high-rise residences and heritage buildings. The area sees busy shoppers with bag-laden arms balancing lattes in paper cups as they travel from one luxury brand to the next, taking advantage of the proximity of high-end shops. The reflecting pools, jogging trails, and nature treks of the Rosehill Revision are always a hub of outdoor activity, and after a workout from either running or splurging, many take advantage of the spas and massage parlors Midtown has to offer. Away from the bakeries, boutiques, and glamorous old theaters of the district's center, locals use the weekend to embrace the more suburban feel of Midtown's parks, tennis courts, outdoor markets, and the manicured grounds of Casa Loma, while families indulge the area's state-of-the-art playground and learning facilities. Of course, no high-brow district is complete without a healthy counter-culture: Midtown boasts some of the wildest street art and full-wall graffiti of any neighborhood in Toronto.
