Stopped by for dinner on a Saturday night. Had to wait 20 minutes for a table. Food was delicious and the menu had a look of apetizing choices. Staff were friendly and helpful with recomendations. Very reasonably priced. Would eat here again.

I've eaten there several times. Often in the evening there can be a lineup (5-20 mins) to get in. Although I'm usually a meat-eater, I find the soy veggie burger with fries a perfectly acceptable substitute. Welcoming to families with kids, 4-5 beers on tap.

I love this place as a vegan restaurant. I love eating the mac and cheese and the fries supreme or the poutine. They even serve rice pasta noodles if needed. It is made with Daiya cheese, so there is a tastes (that I love), but it is very good. It's not the healthy kind of vegan place with the green... More

The Hogtown Vegan has recently moved to its new location near Bloor and Dufferin. It's bigger now and apart from the rather ghastly turquoise walls, it's still excellent! It was hopping last Saturday when my partner ( a carnivore) and I ( an emerging vegan) went. I had 'Phish' and chips and a Caesar salad, which was delicious, followed by... More

Fries were stale and macaroni was very very dry. Despite all the good reviews, I felt the dishes lacked flavour. It felt as if I was just filling up stomach.

The value is great, the portions are huge and the flavours are really well done. Definitely an tofu protein focused place. I have had cheesier tasting vegan mac and cheese before, I think they could tweak that for a stronger flavour. Overall a great experience, go there with a big appetite and a craving for greasy spoon type fare.

Took a quick trip into Toronto to shop and dine. My husband was at a conference, so we met up afterwards at Hogtown Vegan. We were seated promptly near the window. No reservation required. Everyone working there is friendly and smiling and the atmosphere is very relaxed. We ordered the Shitake Clams for an appie and they were to die... More

I stumbled upon this place after a long day of walking around Toronto and was so glad I did! I went in at 7pm on a Sunday and when I left an hour later people were lining up out of the door, that says a lot. The 'bacon cheeseburger' was the best non-meat burger I've ever had. So tasty. I... More

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
The go-to area for new business start-ups, the spry and creative persona of the West End thrives along its streets. Its independent boutiques, galleries, restaurants, and shops offer brands that can't be found elsewhere. Buildings with ground floor consumer spaces sport up-top artist's lofts, and the West End attracts artists, designers, and fashion industry professionals to its living quarters. It is in the cross-hairs of gentrification, but still resisting it with ironic relish. Hot deals can still be found here on furniture and knick-knacks,. Its call to culinary glory is in its well-priced homemade Polish food, hosting Toronto's go-to spots for hot pierogis and cold borscht. High Park, the largest green space in the city, is a place for dreamers and poets to wander and rest, not to mention a number of energetic actors staging outdoor plays in the summertime.
