We celebrated Valentine's Day (2017) here, and it was perfect. There was a set menu, with beautifully selected items and all were delicious. My husband and I discovered this restaurant by chance, and we've been there a number of times since then. We love the authentic French cuisine, the time and love that go into the creation of the menu... More

There were six of us, and all of us were pleased with the meal. The service was particularly good: prompt, competent and very friendly. I had the soup of the day, in which carrot, orange and ginger were the main flavours, and the Catalan seafood stew, and I shared a piece of cheesecake, which I thought was less successful than... What more could you ask of a small, local spot! It is a good place to remember when you want an honest, basic meal. The chef prepares the fried tilapia perfectly flashy and moist. Save room for the chocolate dessert or recently the pumpkin cheesecake. Parking can be difficult along the street, but persevere; it's worth the walk.

My wife and I had a Saturday date night dinner at L'Avenue restaurant last weekend. The staff was very nice and efficient and the room was quite comfortable. We brought our own wine after inquiring about the $25 corkage fee and started with two kir royal's for our pre dinner cocktails. We were very excited to have a French restaurant... More

My two daughters and I went on a weekday night (Tuesday). Not overly busy and service was excellent. We had 4 appetizers amongst us. Soup of the day (very good); escargots (excellent); crab (ok, but escargots were much better); and the bone marrow (pass). One of my daughters had the duck and loved it. I had the seafood dish and... Wow did I get lucky to stumble upon this restaurant on my uber eats. I ordered the trout and a salad. Fish was cooked to perfection and nice size portion salad. By far one of the best deliveries I've had in a long time. I'm definitely going to have to take a trip to this restaurant and dine in. A... More

The French bistro style dishes are intriguing and I'd like to go back just to try a few more. Nice atmosphere, unpretentious and comfortable, with an open kitchen. Service was excellent. The French onion soup was served in what seemed to be a bottomless bowl, but it was a little too salty for my taste. The seafood stew was chock... More

Otta and his staff deliver on a month delight with food and wine pairings that are just too good to miss. There is always a wonderful education involved with wine representatives or people from the "regions" attending and sharing their insights. Otta and his staff deliver absolutely exquisite food pairings from their kitchen. Always a surprise and unbelievably delcious choices.... More

Staying in East York

Neighbourhood Profile
East York
East York includes a portion of old, industrial Toronto. Densely populated but incredibly safe, it boasts some of the city's earliest gardens and gardening clubs, attracting green thumbs everywhere. The tranquility of the Don Valley River area, which is rich with Toronto's oldest and tallest forests, is supplemented by the large ensemble of authentic and refurbished Edwardian homes, giving parts of East York allure. The other draw is for foodies: lovers of Bangladeshi fare will find authentic restaurants and markets in the area, with raw spices and desserts. East York also represents a lot of Toronto's Serbian food culture, and recently, has had an outcropping of solid microbrewery stops. For families, the science center is a favored weekend stop.
