This restaurant is unpretentious and has a varied menu, very Italian, although they have other dishes, and the portions are generous. The caesar salad was awesome, jambalaya enormous and tasty, and the lava cake, well, not as fond of it as I thought I'd be. My friends had the creme brûlée, served in a wide soup bowl and it was... Recently, I had the pleasure of dining with 5 friends again for lunch at Valens. No disappoint here! The staff is pleasant and attentive. No mistakes in serving even with a party of 6. The meal arrived hot, well plated and delicious! The location makes it easy to visit the AGO after and walk off some of those scrumptious calories.

It was a difficult choice trying to figure out where to go for Winterlicious until I stumbled upon this place. As soon as I read the menu to the hubby we had decided. We were not disappointed either. It is a small place located on a busy one way street. The interior was warm however, a bit crowded if you... More

While looking for a restaurant to dine in for lunch during Winterlicious with my colleagues we checked out a lot of menus and price points. Valens had by far the most options to choose from, definitely something for everyone, and for a great price: $18 for the 3 course meal. Cosy little restaurant on Baldwin, and it's popular - we... I've heard of Baldwin street for years, driven by it several times admiring its tucked away location illuminated with endless Christmas lights. We did the prix fixe at Valens. Always call ahead to make a reservation and ask which prix fix is available for that night because there is more than one at different price points. The ambiance was simple,... More

This small restaurant has a varied menu. I've eaten here several times and it has always been delicious.. Their portions are generous. Lots of the menu is Italian based but they have other dishes as well. The creme brûlée is served in a wide soup bowl so there is lots of crisp sugar topping. It is a big enough serving... More

This is another place we targeted because it too was part of the Toronto Summerlicious (July) program + is downtown, close walking distance to many attractions I.E. The Art Gallery of Ontario and many interesting older homes and buildings. We both had their luncheon special; a three course meal for $18.00 each. We both selected their Baby Spinach salad. YES!... It was my first time eating at this restaurant with a friend. We were hungry and decided to go into the closest restaurant nearby. I was pretty happy with the tilapia with rice pilaf and vegetables. The vegetables were perfectly cooked, with a bit of a crunch. The fish and shrimp was not dry and I'm not sure what sauce... More

Nice atmosphere, 25$ summerlicioius menu with one of the best restaurant I visited this year. Highly recommended. If that is waht you get for a fixed menu, the a-la-carte must be fabulous.
