On my first evening in Toronto, I ended up at Lamesa. I never had Filipino food before so I cannot compare but I can say that it was very tasty. I had the beef which was not an over implicated dish with lots of ingredients going on but just pure and honest tastes, I did take a side dish of... More

On our first night in Toronto we were walking up and down Queen St West and came upon Lamesa. We shared the tuna starter (not to our tastes but we thought we'd give it a go!) and then shared the pork and chicken main courses, with a side of noodles and rice. Wow, they were absolutely fantastic, probably some of... More

As many Sundays, my wife and I were walking downtown, looking for a new and original place to have a brunch! We passed by this restaurant and we've had a good surprise. Brunch was to die for, the service was incredible! Kudos to the crew today. We are now looking forward to back there for dinner - we looked at... More

I enjoyed most of the food at Lamesa. A few of the dishes, specifically the chicken felt like dishes I could make at home, but perhaps that's the point, that it's home cooking. This said, I feel the prices should be slightly more reasonable given it is such a casual experience. We had to ask for water, drinks, and at... More

It is definitely not your average Filipino Restaurant (not a Max at all!). The service was good and the food was also good, maybe a little too modern for some people. Modern is nice sometimes, but Filipino food is so good in its classic form, why change it? I do agree with the fact that the serving sizes were a... More

We had never had Filipino food and decided to give this restaurant a try. The Summerlicious summer menu was a great way to do this. The staff did a great job answering all of our questions and explaining the dishes as they arrived. The dishes were wonderful, nothing like we had ever had before. I had a milkfish dish that... Went there for summerlicious and was extremely impressed. I have been a loyal summerlicious patron every year to a large number of restaurants in town. Not just to try out the restaurants, but how a familiar restaurant present themselves during summerlicious says something about how much they indeed care about quality. Most summerlicious restaurants, from small new hip eateries to... More

This year for our "Summerlicious" experience we picked Lamesa Filipino Kitchen We were not disappointed. The set menu offered a good choice and the food and service was good. Vanessa did an amazing job looking after us. As the food and cuisine was new to many within the group, we really appreciated the chef and staff explaining the menu and... More

I was here with some family last week and what an experience! We shared a Tuna Kinilaw, Duck Lumpia, Bistek Tagalog and Pork Menudo. It was all very delicious, as well as beautifully plated. The staff was great, the chef even came out and explained all the dishes to us - perhaps a courtesy, as we're not quite familiar with... More

Staying in Queen Street and West Queen West

Neighbourhood Profile
Queen Street and West Queen West
Known as the Art & Design District, West Queen West is one of the most energetic and dynamic of Toronto's neighborhoods. Along with its great modernist museums, clubs, and restaurants, it's home to some of the funkiest specialty shops, ranging from clothing to stationary to collectables, and caters to niche and vintage shoppers of all kinds. That makes it a mecca for creatives, including hobbyists designers, writers, and painters. With ink on their hands and fabric pelts in their bags, visitors to Queen Street traverse the avant-garde blend of historic architecture and ultra-contemporary fare. Home to some of Toronto's chicest hotels and most modish java fixes, busy with street cars, and always suffused with live music drifting onto packed patios at bars and clubs by nightfall, the vibrancy of West Queen West is undeniable.
