We had been really looking forward to some top notch churrasco chicken in Toronto. We were disappointed. A good churrasco restaurant emanates that delicious smell of chicken roasting on hot coals. You should be able to smell it from a block away. This place was lacking any smells at all. Even walking in through the front door...no heat from the... More

Meet several friends at the restaurant and shared a number of plates including the seafood plate which was awesome, chicken and some appetizers. Great Portuguese food!

Bairrada's backyard patio is one of the best in Toronto and has become my go to place during the summer times for around 6 years. The food portions are pretty good and they have a beautiful house made hot sauce.

Don't know how many years we've driven by....so lets try someplace new. Glad we did! Welcoming staff! Pleasant, polite and attentive. The atmosphere is. Nothing flashy, feels comfortable. Dated...meh so not all hipster like its neighbors. Its a unassuming establishment, thats fine. We ordered the standard side house salad, was fresh, crisp, light oil & vinegar. (not swimming like greek... More

Let's see now ... Modest prices. Generous portions. Tasty food. Friendly staff. The veal is particularly good. So is the chicken. And clams. And the salads. Very relaxing, informal feel to the place. You won't be disappointed.

Stopped in with a group just before a TFC match. Unfortunately, most of the specials on the special menu had sold out, but there was plenty of chicken. I had a small ($8) my partner had a 1/2 chicken ($12) and we were very easily stuffed on these. The variety plate of appetizers that our friends had also looked yummy... More

I made reservations for a group of six on a Friday night on the recommendation of a Portuguese colleague. We ate inside as it was chilly that night. Our server Gustavo was pleasant, courteous, and efficient. I had the Portuguese chicken dinner, which was fairly good. My only critique is that the chicken itself was on the dry side and... More

A very pleasant surprise for a lunch spot. A large space with a lovely, garden like patio at back. My lunch date and I each started with the small Tomate e Pepino salad. Tomato, cucumber and onion in an excellent vinaigrette with delicious sweet olive oil for $4.00. I had the larger size of Febras de Porco (grilled pork cutlets... More

Third time here. Scary when first came through the front door to a near empty restaurant then soon discovered their amazing patio in their backyard. Even with a small garden at the end. Very nice to sit outside with trees around you, lighted and some big TVs sure would be a place to watch Some soccer games. Picnic tables of... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
