This is a great date night place, or a place to hang out and listen to live music with friends. This is a really cozy bar, very friendly service, you can linger for as long as you want and nobody will be chasing you out with the bill. My favorite thing about this place is the fact that they have... More

Have visited multiple times. Live bands (jazz/soul...) always great. Good drink selection. Food is okay... Nothing special. We tend to just go for live music and drinks.

We went to hear music, guitar, female singer, pianist, wonderful. Lots of people enjoying the music. We loved the appetizers, spring rolls and fish tacos, and the cider, made locally. Service was excellent. Prices reasonable, great location. Parked on a side street for free. lots of other places around.

A friend and I came here for dinner last week. It was a great experience!! The food is delicious. I had the Pecan Salmon, and my friend had the Penne Pesto. Naturally, I had to try some of his as well. Both dishes were perfect. The salmon was flaky and flavorful and the penne was lovely. We will definitely be... More

After working a long day on a Saturday, my coworkers and I decided to go for dinner and drinks at this jazz bar. It was a great time and my coworkers and I have been back several times after that on separate occasions. The service is friendly and the food is great! The live music really adds to a unique... I love coming to Gate 403. If you want How I Met Your Mother, the Gate is the MacLaren's of Toronto. The restaurant is cozy, intimate and the mood lighting makes for great ambiance. There is always live music playing so you are always entertained. The food is tasty and the portions are large, so you will walk out with... More

Had a beer served by a very nice girl who said it was a family business. Her brother came along and told me I should try the hamburger. I did. Maybe I was exceptionally hungry from the combination of biking and beer...(not recommended!) But the hamburger was the best I've had in years.. Although not advertised as gourmet..it was far... One of Toronto's great jazz haunts, Gate 403 offers a classic bistro menu, good selection of draught beers and live entertainment twice nightly. I've been performing here every few months and staff is fantastic. Close to lots on the trendy Roncesvalles strip, a real up and coming neighbourhood, it's well worth a drop in if you like to listen to... More

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
The go-to area for new business start-ups, the spry and creative persona of the West End thrives along its streets. Its independent boutiques, galleries, restaurants, and shops offer brands that can't be found elsewhere. Buildings with ground floor consumer spaces sport up-top artist's lofts, and the West End attracts artists, designers, and fashion industry professionals to its living quarters. It is in the cross-hairs of gentrification, but still resisting it with ironic relish. Hot deals can still be found here on furniture and knick-knacks,. Its call to culinary glory is in its well-priced homemade Polish food, hosting Toronto's go-to spots for hot pierogis and cold borscht. High Park, the largest green space in the city, is a place for dreamers and poets to wander and rest, not to mention a number of energetic actors staging outdoor plays in the summertime.
