We were visiting family in the area and wanted a local restaurant for lunch. We had walked by this place a few times during the week and thought we might give it a try. We decided to split a 2 piece basked of Halibut between the three of us. The staff split the fries into three basket for us and... More

On a beautiful, perfectly temperatured day of exploring and discoveries, my husband and I strapped on our Ascis and Reeboks and straddled along College St to the Civil Servants ' fortresses Bay St past the luxury shops and the cultural establishments on Bloor St into the students infested eclectic Harbord St. There, in the midst, amongst cafes, bistros, pubs, wine... Best, freshest, most delicious fish and chips I've ever had and that's including when I lived in London, England. Cannot recommend enough. The batter is something special, the fries are perfect and the prices are fair.

first time here, a small take out place, fries done right and wrapped in newspaper old English style. Add your salt, vinegar, and ketchup before they wrap this generous order up. I can't eat fish but the fries were done right give it a try.

On a beautiful day in Sept. was running through various ideas for dinner. When I used to live in the city, this was the place to go for an affordable awesome fish & chips, I'm talking when a young couple took the chance of opening this hole in the wall and make a go of it. They did succeed and... More

Really enjoyed the fish and chips. Cooked fresh and therefore worth the wait. Would have like to have had curry sauce and mushy peas as you get back in U.K.

Had a takeout here and was pleased at the way the fish was cooked freshly as I waited. Worth the extra few minutes wait. The haddock had good flavour and the chips were crisp and plentiful. Only complaint was that both the fish and the chips were too oily which was a bit overpowering. I certainly advise not adding any... More

This small takeout location has excellent fish and chips. They do not skimp on them either. Everything is freshly cooked and is piping hot. Halibut and cod are both excellent choices. One can eat at the picnic table outside or carry home wrapped in newspaper.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
