The food here (I've heard) is as Persian as Persian gets. The food is flavourful and the decor adds to the experience. The friendly staff is always ready to help out if you are not familiar with Persian cuisine. You definitely should book in advance otherwise you won't get a table in this always busy restaurant.

Pomegranate is a family-run Persian restaurant in central Toronto with easy access by public transportation or car. It is a warm, welcoming environment, with lovely carpets and wall hangings, a little fishpond at the entrance. The music is subtle, quiet. There is an elegant yet exotic choice of starters and dishes, the chicken with plums, the charred eggplant with saffron... More

Came here one evening with my boyfriend to try the place out. The service was absolutely terrible. We ordered the spinach borani to start, I had the mirza qasemi and he had the qeymeh. The food was ok. Now for the service part. The employee who sat us down was the same one who took our drink orders. The drinks... More

From the turquoise ceiling to the fabric bedecked walls, this place is a treasure. The service is fast and the food is delicious, with complex layers of seasoning and flavours mixed in the most wonderful manner. The basmati rice is sublime and the dips and spreads on the fresh Persian bread...yum! A decent and light rose is on the menu... More

Walked in at 5:45 with no reservation. Hostess berated is telling us that it's a small restaurant we should know better. PASS!

If you want authentic Persian food - this is the place to be. This resto offers sumptuous, delectable Persian food. The service is great - no long wait for orders. Here you get good value for your dollar - it's not overpriced. It's a small restaurant so you might want to reserve in advance.

Pomegranate has a beautiful interior which is decorated with Persian artwork, quite unique in Toronto. It is cosy, it is family-owned, the staff are warm and friendly and the food is very good. Prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend it.

I loved the restaurant and the staff were all very friendly. We ordered the spinach borani and the vegetarian caviar. They were both delicious. The bread itself was okay. I ordered the morasa polo and the toppings for the rice were too sweet for my taste. The lamb was well cooked and soft! I think I would opt for the... More

First time here with a group of 6 and I was excited. I love different foods. The waitress was rude to us. It took forever to get her attention and when we did she made it clear she wouldn't come back until we'd all decided what we wanted. She took only half of our drink orders; the other half she... This is a small Persian restaurant who serves dishes from the north of Iran, you will find a few unusual dishes you won't get in other Persian restaurants. The food is quite good and service is appropriate, not really geared up for larger parties.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
