We went here for our last night of our honeymoon and we weren't disappointed. We'd never been to a Japanese restaurant before and this was one hell of a way to start!! Loved the fact the chef (Toto, so entertaining!) cooked our food at the table. The whole meal is an experience, and one that must be tried. The staff... More

You need $100 to eat here. Fun to watch meal cooked in front of you. If you are lucky enough to get an entertaining chef even better. Tons to eat. Down side, fried rice is NOT worth $12 each! Up side the cheese cake is fabulous :)

Formula restaurant with formula service. The food was a bit drab to the taste and the wine by the glass selection was terrible. Nice to watch the chef entertain while cooking your meal. Will probably go elsewhere next time I have a Japanese craving.

I first went to Benihana's in Houston way back in 2002 and have been gushing to my wife and kids about it ever since. To the point that I reckoned if we ever got the chance to visit as a family it would be hard pushed to live up to its star billing, but oh boy, I needn't have worried:... More

I have been going to this location for years - still very good food and good service but they need some fresh decorating to create more atmosphere. It's very dated compared to the other Benihana restaurants. A little rushed -but that is to be expected at this type of restaurant. We took our daughter her with a few friends for... More

We were staying at the Fairmont Royal York hotel. Our 10 years old daughter has always been a huge fan of the Benihana chicken fried rice. My husband and I found the teppanyaki there is good but we like trying different restaurants in town. So, we decided to go to another downtown restaurant for the evening before watching a show.... It is always a great show when the chef cooks and serves at the table. Just wish it hadn't all happened in one very short hour. Felt rushed and not how I want to feel after a steak and lobster meal for two. I would like a little time to enjoy.

It is a neat dining experience to eat with the chef out front preparing the food right in front of you. We did make reservations, and probably it is best to do so, especially on the weekend. We did not eat any of the sushi here, but it looked good. Probably I'd say that what you actually get to eat... More

The food was ok it was the cook that keep it interesting and fun. He was very interactive with the table and gave an excellent cooking show.

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
