The restaurant provides a nice atmosphere, reasonable prices, and the location is excellent. The service was very good; fast and polite however the food was subpar. The menu is appetizing but they failed to deliver on quality. For example, I ordered the risotto and was served a plate of barley. This could of been an honest mistake or perhaps they... More

For me, the best parts were the atmosphere and decor, as well as the fantastic servers. Good location too, with reasonably priced parking adjacent (and the restaurant will reimburse your parking ticket if you ask!). The washrooms were quite nice, although needed freshening up at the time we visited. Personally I found the food to be good, but somehow didn't... More

It's been years since I have been to this restaurant, it still continues to be excellent. The service is very good and the menu that is seasonal was right on the mark.

My wife and I went here recently before a concert at the nearby Sony Centre. Service was fast and friendly. The Stella was nice and cold. I had the six ounce sirloin. It came with a small salad, frites, puréed potatoes and a carrot/zucchini combo of mixed veggies. The steak was pretty tough and had that "livery" taste. My wife... More

Was with a large group at the back of the restaurant at a weekend. Restaurant was surprisingly uncrowded. We eat off a set menu and were well pleased. Main course of pasta marinara was my highlight, although those eating steaks were highly complimentary of the meat. Dessert was billed as bread and butter pudding - albeit deconstructed - not much... Went there with a group of 10. Despite the size of the group the service was very attentive ! Had a swordfish plate which was nicely cooked but the presentation and taste I would not call sumptuous. The bread did not have the "freshly baked" look and feel. The fries side dish were a bit stale, the vegetables side dish... More

I went here with my co-workers to try the winterlicious menu for lunch. Everything was great from the time we sat down to the dessert. They are well equipped to handle the large winterlicious crowds. Our appetizers were brought to us right away. We each had a different option. I had the soup which was very tasty and creamy. For... More

I have given up on Winterlicious over the past few years due to the mediocracy of the entire experience overall. In my opinion this culinary event really doesn't do the restaurants much justice. I believe their regular menu tastes much better and service is hugely improved if you dined their as a "regular" client instead of a "winterlicious goer". With... More

Upon arrival at Far Niente we were promptly greeted by the hostess who offered to take our coats. We were then guided to our table and our server approached shortly after offering water. At that point I requested separate bills. We had to wait about 15 minutes for the rest of our party to arrive, we were a party of... More

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
