There are more than one Il Fornello inToronto and the GTA but I had to tag only one. This group of really great Italian restaurants have been in business for over 20 years and you only achieve this by being great. Super creative pizza's and pasta's with the added benefit of having great gluten free options. Il Fornello has a... More

If you like east side marios you may like this place. This is not a place for foodies, however. I think my lasagna was microwaved. Garbage. Many many decent Itailian places in Toronto. This is not one of them...We ate at the one on Danforth. Never again.

Had a reservation for 15 people for my birthday. Both our waitresses were very friendly but it took almost 30 mins to come see if we were ready to take our orders. We had to wait about 45 mins to actually receive our food. I understand that we had a large group but it was a tad bit excessive. The... More

Good size restaurant with nice ambiance located in busy restaurant area on the Danforth. Our Caesar Salads were well made with fresh cold lettuce and just the right amount of dressing. Our Rigatoni Bolognese was a big bowl filled with pasta and with just the right amount of a very light tasting meat sauce. Our Pizza Melanzane was perfectly made.... More

Il Fornello means the oven, or stove, in Italian. In Italy, hand built Brick pizza ovens are king in pizzerias and sometimes are the most expensive piece of equipment in a pizzeria. Here, this is no different and you can taste the difference. The ovens produce a bubbly, crisp and very gently charred pizza crust thanks to their immense heat.... More

I have two young girls, and our family loves going to Il Fornello. Great food, reasonable prices, great decor. The food is slightly more upscale than your typical family Italian restaurant, but still reachable. They have tons of choices so even picky eaters (like mine) can find something. Great specials. Food is top quality, great quantity. You won't go hungry... More

A great spot to have dinner with the family. Lots of options to please the crowd. Service was semi-prompt and food arrived as ordered.

I ordered the fried zucchini for an app, it was dry and very bland. No flavor . Then my main was the lasagna. The flavor was ok but microwave lasagna, seriously? I had ordered using Ubereats. Delivery service was great but the food sucked to be polite. Usually every place you order lasagna from you get 1-2 slices of garlic... More

It was a very hot Saturday in June on the Danforth so we snagged a patio table and had brunch. We were served quickly and politely. Eggs Benedict arrived hot with a generous fresh fruit salad. No mushy, old leftovers here. The arugula and beet salad was freshly made and very flavourful. Service was excellent. Returned for a quick dinner... More

The pizza was fantastic..... best I have had in years and definitely way better than what I had in New York. Server was very attentive ... would definitely go back for the super pizza !!! We shared the beet salad, also very very yummy. Would just like to add though that the ladies washroom could do with a spruce up.

Staying in East End

Neighbourhood Profile
East End
The East End is an eclectic amalgamation of areas that team up to make this district one of the most multi-faceted and alluring. Home to Toronto's LGBT community hub, Gay Village is alive and pumping day or night with friendly bars, nightclubs, and cafes – its thumb is on the pulse of excitement. For a more relaxed day, the East End has the largest collection of restored Victorian homes, and its stately streets, tree-lined and bursting at the seams with affluence, often sport farmers markets and street artists, epitomized by the effusive St. Lawrence Market. One of the most gorgeous of Toronto's neighborhoods, it also straddles Lake Ontario in an area called The Beach, where you'll find folks cycling and strolling along the sandy shorelines, getting some sun or enjoying shopping, dining, and pub options. For some fabulous food, the vivacious personalities running the restaurants in the East End's Greektown is only equaled by the fun and authenticity of the street stalls and restaurants at its expansive Indian Bazaar. 'Something for everyone' has never been so accurate.
