We used the restaurant for a late meal one night and the fish and chips were fantastic. We ordered a flatbread appetizer another time and we were impressed with the quality and the serving size. The bartender in both cases provided us with great service! Would recommend this restaurant even if you didn't stay at the Cambridge Suites.

Instead of venturing out into the cold, I decided to dine at the hotel. I am glad that I did! This quaint space served quality meals that did not disappoint. While dining at the bar, I noticed that it seemed to be a little popular for afterward drinks but it did not get overly crowded. The service, variety, quality and... More

Went for an early dinner before a show- the. Service was very good and none of us were disappointed with our meal. The risotto with cauliflower was tasty ( and I dislike cauliflower) and the scallops were cooked perfectly. The steak was cooked just right and was tender and delicious. We would go here again.

We went to Portico with a family group of 7. It was a bit early but we were on an early schedule. This was not a problem. The restaurant was excellent! Service was great, food was great. Most of all, ambiance and noise levels were great. What we enjoy most is a friendly warm environment with the ability to talk... More

This brunch was not inexpensive, yet, the choice was very limited, and there were shortages of some bakery (croissant) and bacon... Go elsewhere!

I had breakfast at Portico once during my week long stay at Cambridge Suites. There was a wide range of buffet breakfast options as well as a breakfast menu available. The pricing was reasonable, compared to buffet breakfasts I have had at other hotels.

I was looking for a light late supper and found it here. I had their soup of the day, which was a tasty creamy lentil, and the very good Summer Greens. Perfect. Good service also.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
