About
Scaramouche has long been celebrated by customers and critics for its unwavering commitment to making each dining experience a memorable one. Chef/owner Keith Froggett's sophisticated cuisine is presented simply with care and attention to detail. The service underscores that philosophy: unobtrusive and respectful. The restaurant affords a stunning nighttime vista of the downtown Toronto skyline. These components and more make Scaramouche the singular destination it is. And the reason that the restaurant is consistently ranked as one of the city's best for more than three decades.

This restaurant never disappoints. The quality of the food and service is superb. The cuisine is creative and delicious and is served by professional and attentive staff. The restaurant’s interior is elegant and intimate. The wonderful views of the Toronto city skyline create the perfect...backdrop for a fabulous dining experience. The menu has lots of great choices. They have creative cocktails and a great selection of wines. Chef Carolyn Reid uses only the finest seasonal and local ingredients to create her inspired dishes. My husband and I shared the half dozen oysters. The Oysters served with lemon, horseradish, and red wine mignonette were delicious. We also shared the Terrine of Foie Gras. It was the best Terrine of Foie Gras that we had tasted. It was beautifully prepared and presented. We both had the Halibut as our main and we loved this dish as well because the ingredients were fresh and the presentation was innovative. The other members of our party had the Buckwheat Gnocchi and loved this inspired dish as well. Two members of our party chose the Ontario Lamb Saddle as their main and the lamb was perfectly cooked and creative in the choice of accompaniments. Dessert for one of our members was Scaramouche’s delicious Coconut Cream Pie. Besides the inspired dishes by Chef Carolyn Reid, there is another plus and that is the staff. Andres, our server helped to make our dining experience a very memorable one; his professional and attentive service and helpful suggestions were appreciated. For those of you who have not tried Scaramouche, this is one dining experience you do not want to miss.More

Every aspect of this restaurant screams perfection and attention to detail. In my opinion it’s one of the best fine dinning experiences you can have in the city, without having to take a second mortgage on your home. The price points are extremely reasonable and...fair for the quality of the food, service and overall experience. In some respects it’s a throwback to a different time period when you were made to feel special and not rushed through dinner so the table can be flipped. There is a Michelene acknowledgment at the front door. Dinner picture below was fantastic. Very dish. The noodles with beef and bread crumbs. Very hardy and extremely tasty. The lobster and scallops dishes exceptional and every appetizer was memorable. Deserts are pieces of art and delightful. The service is impeccable. This place is famous for its coconut cream pie. And it was great however, the other deserts were just as good if not better. If you are planning for a special night out, this place should be high on your list.More

I dined at Scaramouche some years back and it was a memorable meal. I returned tonight and although solo, was grateful for a table with a great city view. My server was good, even if he asked me if I was ready to order right...off the bat. I had a couple good gin martinis and eventually ordered a matsutake mushroom appetizer and a lamb loin main dish. As a French restaurant, I assumed once I put in my order perhaps an amuse or some other flourish might arrive. No. Nothing. The mushroom appetizer came but was underwhelming. Asian pears of varying crispness and only 3 or 4 mushroom pieces that needed more flair. My lamb loin dish was very good and overall lived up to the menu's description but overall on this visit, it was for me a "Meh". I dined at 2 other Toronto restaurants on this trip and though they lacked the view, outstripped the generosity of the menu and the flavor.More

A superb restaurant with great food, great service and great view over the City. The heirloom tomato and the shrimp salad starters were excellent. Full of flavour and beautifully presented. Our mains were the halibut and the special of the evening the turbot with artichokes....Both were first rate dishes and beautifully cooked. We shared dessert which was the milk and honey dish and the home made ice cream. Excellent. Our waiter really made our evening. He was very efficient and knowledgeable and appropriately friendly. Totally recommended.More

Dinner was a wonderful experience. Best meal I had in Toronto. The food was delicious (I had the Ontario lamb saddle main course and the coconut cream pie). Service was top-notch and atmosphere was great. Each member of our party enjoyed dinner.

Scaramouche is without a doubt our favourite restaurant in Toronto. We dine out a fair amount but always end up back here. The food is imaginative and beautifully prepared and presented. The chef clearly has a light hand and is wonderfully innovative. This week we...had an amazing hamachi agua caliente followed by delicious scallops with tempura zucchini blossoms (me) and my husband had the lamb, which he pronounced to be perfect. Service is professional..gracious, personal and welcoming, always attentive but never overbearing. The setting overlooking the city is lovely, especially as the sun is setting, but it is the food and service that always bring us back.More

Our second time at this restaurant and it was just as spectacular as the first. The staff is expertly trained. Very attentive but not overbearing. Andrew our server made many excellent suggestions throughout the night. We started with their great bread and slightly smokey humus...which went well with our Empress and Benvenuto Martin. Then we shared a wonderful shrimp and lobster scallop salad and a romaine hearts salad with chopped eggs. The farm to table ingredients are incredible so a romaine lettuce is more an experience than you would expect. The nightly special was Canadian Halibut which had to be the best Halibut I have ever eaten and my partner had the poached half lobster also off the charts. Every course is perfectly plated and the presentation is like out of a gourmet food magazine. The chocolate cherry desert is an incredible work of art. The view is wonderful, and the entire night was classy and unpretentious and perfect in every way.More

In a word, 'exceptional'; overall experience, service, food were all excellent. Not inexpensive, however also money well spent for a great evening.Highly recommend the European Sea Bass as well as Peppercorn Fettucine. In fairness to some other reviews, portions are not large, however we had no...issues with that as that left room for the Strawberry Semifreddo (also excellent). Shoutout to all our servers, particularly Kevin who made it a great evening out.More

This was our 1st time at Scaramouche and it will be our last. I had high expectations based on the positive reviews I read, but we were so disappointed, especially since we went to celebrate a special birthday. One of the biggest disappointments was the...waiter serving our table. We ordered a bottle of wine to begin with and he spilled the wine several times as he was pouring...very sloppy. He never apologized or acknowledged what he did. This has never happened to me before at a restaurant of this calibre. He did not seem to know the menu, so I was wondering if he was a fill in, that the place may have been short staffed. All through the dinner, he also never once asked us how we were enjoying the meal either. In addition, we thought the view was going to be something worth being there for, but all we saw from where we we sat, is the hill going south on Avenue Road, with a small bit of the CN Tower in the distance. I noticed that in the other part of the restaurant, the view is of treetops. As for the food, the portions for most items are miniscule. We ordered 2 trays of oysters at the start as well as 4 other appetizers. The oysters were great. I'm glad we ordered those because the appetizers that came afterwards were not sufficient for 4 people to share. For the main course, I ordered the beef tenderloin pasta dish, which was tasty and the plate was sufficient. However the other 3 people at our table ordered other the lobster dish on the main menu. Although they did not complain about the flavors, the lobster was tiny and was more the size of what I would expect of for an appetizer. We did take the coconut cream pie at the end, but we felt rushed to leave at that point. You are notified in the reservation that there is a time limitation. As we expected, the dinner was pricey. That was not a surprise to us. The experience should be at a high level along with those prices. I will not be returning and I would not recommend this restaurant to celebrate a special occasion. In my opinion there are better choices in Toronto.More

We came to celebrate our anniversary, and it did not disappoint. Patrick was the guy who helped me when i proposed all those years ago, and he was there that night - coincidentally was retiring later that week. The appetizers, the mains, the desserts were...all amazing which is what you would expect for this high end restaurant. It was very busy with many people on a Wednesday evening - which is a testament to how good this restaurant is. The restaurant is also known for its view, which you can see from many tables.More

Scaramouche has been our go-to choice for decades when time arrives for celebration with friends and family. I can sum it up briefly. Unparalleled, warm and friendly service. A birthday celebration for my wife and her best friend(we were 2 couples in our seventies). Arrived at 7:30, but did not receive our order(mains only) until after 9:00, with no explanation, until I made an inquiry to our server, as to when we might...expect it . My duck breat and whipped potatoes was cold and I sent it back. When it came out of the kitchen about 10 minutes later it was just luke warm. To make amends for the poor service, we were offered more wine, which we declined, and dessert on the house which we accepted. We all agreed that the food was great. We all agreed that the service at such a sophisticated, high end dining room was severely lacking.More
