It was a cold and dreary January weeknight and I was apprehensive about this place. But it was my son's birthday and he and his girlfriend have become vegetarians. "I'll probably pay a lot of money" I thought, "and leave feeling hungry, suffering from an insatiable carnivorous craving." My first surprise was that this unassuming little bistro was so busy... You MUST eat here!! My boyfriend and I are vegan, and were blown away by the food here. The soy protein was out of this world. I ordered the Shanghai Noodle dish, and the sauce and spice and flavour was spot on - everything I could have hoped for and more! My boyfriend ordered the seafood clay pot, and WOW.... More

What amazing food! So nice, as a vegan, to be able to order ANYTHING off the menu. The restaurant is nestled into a row of converted townhomes just off McCaul. It would be a quick 5-10 minute walk from any of Spadina, University, College, or Dundas as it sits right in the middle. The place was hopping for a Wednesday,... More

Whether you're a vegan or not (I fall into the latter category), this little restaurant is worth a try. It's a 5-10 minute walk from either the Queen's Park or the St. Patrick subway station in downtown Toronto. It may not be open on Sundays, not sure. The menu is almost as exciting as a good storybook, so much imagination... More

This was a family outing with a blend of vegetarians and meat-eaters. So what does a carnivorous palate choose at a vegetarian restaurant? Sizzling eggplant tempeh in coconut curry, for one; seafood in clay pot (with seafood made from soya protein and konnyoku root flour) for the other. It's all about flavour and interesting combinations of vegetables. Those who were... More

On a trip to Toronto with my Vegan daughter I made it a point to eat Vegan with her all weekend. Toronto has so many Vegan options! I could easily be Vegan lol. We showed up without a reservation without even thinking about it ( just dumb on our part, we were tired) and the sat is anyway and they... More

Although, we had a very long wait as the place is small, the staff is very pleasant and welcoming. The best reason is food - 100% vegan and tasty. Will visit again.

The night before we ate in the food court at Eaton Center - bad mistake, not a good place to treat Hazel to a Vegan meal. An associate who also happens to be a vegetarian gave me the name of her favorite spot - Vegetarian Haven. What a fantastic place to eat at, any non vegan/vegetarian would enjoy eating here,... Did a Google search for vegetarian near the AGO. This a short walk from there. In an interesting neighborhood - lots of restaurants. Gluten-free options. Interesting music, friendly, healthy and delicate flavourful menu. I had the Morrocan pad Thai - good fusion cooking. I bought a gluten-free cheese cake to go. The roasted red pepper soup was an excellent starter.

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Toronto's main Chinatown has the honor of being the largest in North America. Gaping down across Dundas Street West and Spadina Avenue, the area is a wonderful medley of shops and restaurants, busy signs and bright red gates, a destination for foodie fun. Chinatown's streets are always bustling, packed with people and outdoor stalls hawking fresh produce and products. The restaurants and authentic marketplaces that shoulder in against each other display shining roast ducks and menus studded with dumplings and noodle bowls. The air is pervaded with music. different languages, and the smell of fried food and mouth-watering desserts. Chinatown's restaurants represent a broad range of fare, from traditional Szechuan and Shanghai foods, to other Asian delicacies, including some of the top Japanese, Vietnamese, and Korean spots in the city. Whether you're in the mood for a sit-down tea house or a bubble tea to go, Chinatown is the spot to enjoy an exciting walk and the promise of leaving satisfied.
