Ate here on a Monday evening, we were wandering around Toronto's Chinatown and were attracted by their specials list and combination menus. The greeting was super-friendly, with complementary green teas served while we decided what to eat. We ordered three dishes off the combination menu, a delicious sweet and sour pork, chicken with vegetables and Yeung Chow fried rice, including... More

We had hears about this place on YouTube and we knew we had to try it out. And I'm so glad we did! We ordered a few appetizers and 3 main dishes. We had a seafood low mein, Hong Kong style soft shell crab (it was deep fried with some spices. Delicious and very crispy) and the star of the... More

Food is quite good, but nothing outstanding. The soft shell crab is tasty. Average dining room and service. New Sky a few doors away is a better bet.

Classic no nonsense Chinese restaurant ambience: disposable plastic bag tablecloth and dark rudimentary bathroom. Your money is in the food. Kids loved the HK style soft shell crab. They were not so crazy about the black bean sauced razor clams.

I have been out of the city for awhile and really missed some good solid Chinese food. This is my go to place. The seafood especially the soft shell crab was awesome. Good service and reasonable prices.

I had been to Xam Yu on a previous visit to Toronto and thought it was very good notwithstanding one dish that was average so I decided to give it another go. I decided to give the razor clams another go and then ordered the black snapper on the recommendation of the waiting staff. The black snapper turned out to... More

I love Xam yu and it is my second favorite chinese restaurant. I would give it 4.5 stars if I could. I am not a seafood person however all the beef and chicken dishes on a sizzling hot plate are always excellent. Parking is sometimes a problem but check the side streets and maybe you will have to walk a... More

We have visited Xam yu many times but it is the sweet and sour beef loin on a sizzling cast iron hot plate that stands out. Located on the east side of Spadina in the north end of China town does make for difficult parking in the peak hours but we always find a spot on the side streets and... More
