Atmosphere was friendly and the service good. The food was authentically Portuguese. I can recommend the fish stew, the sardines and the salmon but my friends tell me that the meat dishes were also good.

Half a block from bustling Yonge St; the tasteful, quiet dinning room is a prelude to a near perfect experience. All elements of the service was exceptional. I had the Portuguese version of bouillabaisse, that would match the standards of Marseilles for fish variety, and my partner had halibut plated for perfection. two glasses of vino vert and creme brulee,... I had the sardine appetizer to go, and enjoyed the calm and comfortable ambience while I waited. The staff were very helpful and professional. The sardines were simply fantastic. Large and grilled to perfection with cooked red peppers and lovely homemade cornbread as a side, garnished with lots of olives. The sardines truly reminded me of those in Lisbon.

This was our second visit to Adega. As an appetizer we ordered grilled squid and it was absolutely delicious. As well we had Mediterranean octopus and Saffron seafood risotto. Both dishes were excellent. Amazing service, great atmosphere. great food and nice choice of wines. Highly recommended.

I was excited to try this restaurant. After reading good and bad reviews I understand what people are talking about. Upon arriving for lunch we were greeted warmly. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly. But I could see it would be a very different experience if my guest wasn't super good looking if you know what I mean........ More

We made reservations 2 and a half weeks earlier for this place because we wanted to experience winterlicious for the first time, and we liked the reviews. We made an early reservation, at 5:30 because we were seeing an afternoon show nearby. We got there right on time and entered a mostly empty restaurant. There were only 2 other tables... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
