We hung out here for the night one Wednesday evening (Trivia night) and it was quite fun. $2 per person entry fee for something different to do on winter's night. Crowd was great, servers were extremely cordial, and food was quite good (lobster nachos were different and delicious). Portion sizes were not as great as I had expected based on... More

We met up with some friends there at our last stay in Toronto. Upon our arrival the restaurant was very busy but we were still able to get a nice big table with couch seating (there were 5 of us). The decor is very eclectic but nice. We ordered drinks, which were original and delicious! A live band came to... More

Myself and my dining companion booked a late seating at the Sky Yard for New Years Eve, on recommendations from several friends that The Drake Hotel is a must-visit. Dinner for NYE was $163 (with tax and gratuity), which for the quality and quantity of meal and given the special occasion, was quite affordable. Yes, drinks are pricey but they... More

The Drake is a great place for drinks in Toronto. I love how creative their cocktails are. A little pricey, but you pay for the amazing atmosphere and decor. Their rooftop patio is also so great!

Busy busy location for a weekend brunch date. Luckily we had reservations, so no waiting. Hostesses were very friendly. Interesting brunch menu. Our group ordered a couple of the complete meals (eggs, sausage, toast etc. while others selected a couple of items). Service could have been faster, but perhaps it was a little too busy for the kitchen that day.... More

Enjoyed a unique brunch at the drake. I had the Shakshuka and my partner had the Drake breakfast (so I suppose mine was a bit more unique then his). The food was alright but the portions were small and my eggs were undercooked. We also got cheddar biscuits which were just average, but the jalapeño butter they were served with... More

A great spot for creative cocktails!! I am sipping a wonderful gin gin mule made with gin, mint, lime and ginger beer, wonderfully refreshing in a hipster bar atmosphere.

A great restaurant with cool music and some great art pieces adorning the walls. I wish I'd been more dressed up as it was pretty swanky. The food was first class - indulgent lobster nachos and BBQ pork rice. The pork was belly draft and super tasty. A decent beer and cocktail selection too. Visit if you're wanting an indulgent... The Drake is a very interested hang out. We were in the main dinner room. It offers many gluten free options. We arrived too early to order from the dinner menu so we started with some apps from the Apres Work menu. The server was pleasant and knowledgeable about GF options. We started with the lobster nachos (sauce on the... More

I had been reading the buzz about the Drake's restaurant on Queen West for years, and so when I was invited to a birthday dinner there, I was excited, but also a little worried. What if it didn't live up to what I had heard about it? No worries there. The space is funky, there's a great excitement in the... More

Staying in Queen Street and West Queen West

Neighbourhood Profile
Queen Street and West Queen West
Known as the Art & Design District, West Queen West is one of the most energetic and dynamic of Toronto's neighborhoods. Along with its great modernist museums, clubs, and restaurants, it's home to some of the funkiest specialty shops, ranging from clothing to stationary to collectables, and caters to niche and vintage shoppers of all kinds. That makes it a mecca for creatives, including hobbyists designers, writers, and painters. With ink on their hands and fabric pelts in their bags, visitors to Queen Street traverse the avant-garde blend of historic architecture and ultra-contemporary fare. Home to some of Toronto's chicest hotels and most modish java fixes, busy with street cars, and always suffused with live music drifting onto packed patios at bars and clubs by nightfall, the vibrancy of West Queen West is undeniable.
