A great spot for creative cocktails!! I am sipping a wonderful gin gin mule made with gin, mint, lime and ginger beer, wonderfully refreshing in a hipster bar atmosphere.

A great restaurant with cool music and some great art pieces adorning the walls. I wish I'd been more dressed up as it was pretty swanky. The food was first class - indulgent lobster nachos and BBQ pork rice. The pork was belly draft and super tasty. A decent beer and cocktail selection too. Visit if you're wanting an indulgent... The Drake is a very interested hang out. We were in the main dinner room. It offers many gluten free options. We arrived too early to order from the dinner menu so we started with some apps from the Apres Work menu. The server was pleasant and knowledgeable about GF options. We started with the lobster nachos (sauce on the... More

I had been reading the buzz about the Drake's restaurant on Queen West for years, and so when I was invited to a birthday dinner there, I was excited, but also a little worried. What if it didn't live up to what I had heard about it? No worries there. The space is funky, there's a great excitement in the... More

We went here for lunch in early November with a group of 4 adults. We had just been to a business meeting, so we were a little overdressed for the location and clientele, but that wasn't a problem. The restaurant itself has a cool vibe to it, with seating on a raised platform at the front, tall tables in an... More

The Drake Hotel was fun for a Saturday night hang out. The music was great. Most people were dancing on the main and the basement dance floor. The place looks small from the front of the building but once you're inside there's lots of room to move around. There's also an outside patio to be enjoyed!!

I came as part of a group, we had an after work party on the Sky patio. It was awesome, service and food were plentiful. Drinks were superb, some neat concoctions, I especially loved the mojito! It's a bit far out of downtown, but for a casual night out this was perfect.

Joined family at the Drake for late night snacks and dancing. We paid a cover charge of $10pp. There are multiple dance floors and an extensive bar. Bar snacks food menu - high end (e.g. truffle oil & pecorino fries / lobster nachos). A club is a club! If you like loud music and tipsy people you'll be happy.

Sunday brunch at the Drake was delicious. We sat on the rooftop, excellent server. The menu is eclectic enough so that everyone can find something they like. Would recommend the scones to start. I could not decide between the scones or the spreads which one was tastier. The salmon poke was delicious as was the avocado toast with poached egg.

The restaurant and the roof terrace are a great location to have lunch or dinner. The sushi was nice but the steak much to fat and the wings not very tasteful. The avocado with eggs were lovely. The washrooms were not very clean.

Staying in Queen Street and West Queen West

Neighbourhood Profile
Queen Street and West Queen West
Known as the Art & Design District, West Queen West is one of the most energetic and dynamic of Toronto's neighborhoods. Along with its great modernist museums, clubs, and restaurants, it's home to some of the funkiest specialty shops, ranging from clothing to stationary to collectables, and caters to niche and vintage shoppers of all kinds. That makes it a mecca for creatives, including hobbyists designers, writers, and painters. With ink on their hands and fabric pelts in their bags, visitors to Queen Street traverse the avant-garde blend of historic architecture and ultra-contemporary fare. Home to some of Toronto's chicest hotels and most modish java fixes, busy with street cars, and always suffused with live music drifting onto packed patios at bars and clubs by nightfall, the vibrancy of West Queen West is undeniable.
