What a fantastic find in my search for Toronto's most consistent and best curry house. Sixteen years strong this place in the quieter end of the Beaches. Unassuming exterior and yet a very clean and neat interior. I was actually the only person in there at 7pm but that seems to be consistent with that end of the Beaches. Not... More

We've given this place three chances. The first time, we really liked it. Good, tasty dishes, all the major ones, aloo gobi, saag paneer, butter chicken, rice pilao, etc. Second time, we ordered both a butter naan and a regular naan, with all that stuff (chicken korma instead of butter chicken though). There was so little butter on the butter... More

This is very good Indian Food and we have been eating here for years. The owners and the food has remained consistently good. The Vindaloo I would say is their best dish !

Ali's is one of our neighbourhood Indian restaurants. By far the best in my opinion. We don't go nearly as often as I would like but when we do I am always overwhelmed with the choices, quality and most of all the service. Most of the time, I prefer to cook at home but I can tell you that try... More

It was further than we'd thought from our hotel so I'm glad we took a taxi. We also arrived quite early, around 7.30pm so we were the first diners that evening. It was the first time in a curry restaurant for my almost-teenage children and they loved it! The food was great, the service was excellent, and there was just... More

We have been here several times, and always enjoy the friendly service and excellent food! The restaurant is on the sleepy end of the Beach neighborhood, which also makes it a plus.

My friend and I just tried out this restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised. We shared the chicken afghani and shrimp tikka. Both dishes were excellent and came with a delicious salad, rice and naan (my friend exchanged her naan for pappadams). I had been warned that the dishes might be hotter than requested, but I did not find that... More

We have eaten here many times. We enjoy food and quiet atmosphere. The food is always fresh and well spiced. They will ask you the level of spice you want and the meal comes sizzling on a platter.

Staying in East End

Neighbourhood Profile
East End
The East End is an eclectic amalgamation of areas that team up to make this district one of the most multi-faceted and alluring. Home to Toronto's LGBT community hub, Gay Village is alive and pumping day or night with friendly bars, nightclubs, and cafes – its thumb is on the pulse of excitement. For a more relaxed day, the East End has the largest collection of restored Victorian homes, and its stately streets, tree-lined and bursting at the seams with affluence, often sport farmers markets and street artists, epitomized by the effusive St. Lawrence Market. One of the most gorgeous of Toronto's neighborhoods, it also straddles Lake Ontario in an area called The Beach, where you'll find folks cycling and strolling along the sandy shorelines, getting some sun or enjoying shopping, dining, and pub options. For some fabulous food, the vivacious personalities running the restaurants in the East End's Greektown is only equaled by the fun and authenticity of the street stalls and restaurants at its expansive Indian Bazaar. 'Something for everyone' has never been so accurate.
