The food is better. More choices, more sea food. On the Nun's island, this is probably the best restaurant. Environment is nice, can see the St Lawrence river. Interior renovation is nice. In the summer, can sit outside. Food is good. The style is heavy. There is a bit sand in the octopus. Service of the main dish is a... More

We went for a quick brunch at this popular place in Outremont. The good: the menu is interesting, the food was OK, the fresh juice was good. The not-so-good: service was friendly but after we gave our order it went downhill, fast. Could not get anyone's attention (we had chosen a quiet corner, but close to the service counter so... More

The food was surprisingly mediocre for such an upscale gastropub. I was with a large group, and everyone found their food to be good but not great. This is worth a trip once for the view but not really for the food.

We went to this place to meet a local friend and family with kids. Although it is a casual one, I was surprised by the quality. Kids had a good food - hamburgers etc And we had very good meals - nicely cooked salmon, octopus. I had the pleasure to try Sheppard pie - local food for Montréal. And for... More

Very difficult venue to review, read on and you will see why; There is no sign on the downtown tower building for this branch, you need to get in and talk to the nice hostess seating in the lobby, she will show you the way to the lifts taking you to the 43 floor, from there you change lifts to... Not great at all. Staff was helpful and courteous but the food was not that great. Desserts were exceptional but we were so hungry after our meal, it is not a surprise that we devoured the spinach crème brule and apple and cream in a glass thing. Very noisy but it is a scene and I will not go back.

Another bustling bistro on the Bernard strip, one of four such offspring in the Montreal area, this small restaurant specialises in slow food, literally, served amidst a stylish, black, white and recycled lumber decor. How it took so long, in a quiet lunch period, to prepare a classic cheese and ham omlette which was so undercooked it was almost running... More

This was a last minute NYE dinner - the restaurant was close to where we were staying and we walked in without a reservation or without reading any prior reviews. A very pleasant surprise! The food was delicious, the modern lounge-like feel was perfect and the staff was very pleasant and had no problem explaining everything to us in English.... More

Had a late night dinner at the Montreal location at the top of Place Ville Marie (PVM). Food was as good as the Outremont location and the prices seem to be the same. Great place to see the city on a clear night.

Staying in Outremont

Neighbourhood Profile
Outremont, a quaint residential district just north of Downtown, is a peaceful, low-key setting known for its mod cafes and bistros, and some of the best walking territory Montreal has to offer. Visitors can explore the flowering parks and manor estates of Maplewood Street, then window-shop the popular bakeries and coffeehouses on main arteries of Chemin de la Côte-Sainte-Catherine and Rue Van Horne. The modern granola feel is complemented by contemporary art exhibitions, rotating theatre productions, and a welcoming public library. Also a nexus for the city's Hasidic Jewish culture, Outremont's diversity resounds in its cuisine and in its architecture. Visit the colorful neighbourhood to take advantage of boutique shopping on Avenue Laurier, or to test the artisanal flavors of Avenue Bernard, braving a salmon burger on a squid-ink bun or accommodating your sweet tooth with a provincial chômeur pudding. A visit to Outremont is a relaxing day.
