When in Old Montreal this restaurant is a must to experience. the food is great, service is complete with a European touch. A great way to have a great meal with friends or family. A little on the expensive side, but worth the price. Will go again and try another dish.

This restaurant was recommended to us. When we arrived for our reservation they had written the wrong time. They assured us this was not a problem and seated right away. They brought us bread and then did not come back for 15 minutes and that was only because we asked if we could get something to drink. When they did... More

We visited here on our last day in Montreal and of all the restaurants we visited this was by far the best. The food was authentic and delicious. The service was impeccable and our food came out quickly even though it was busy. Fantastic vegetarian options!

The restaurant we tried to go to was closed but they recommended here instead. Are we ever happy for the recommendation!!! The veggie lasagna and large risotto were perfect. Perfect temperature to eat right away and quick to the table. They even created a table for us as we were walk ins and the wait staff recommendations for wine and... More

This restaurant caught my eye and my fancy as I was working my way through Old Montreal. I glanced through the broad glass storefront and saw pretty wine glasses sitting on a glossy wooden table with red chairs. A couple of guys were in back setting up, and when saw me peering in they waved. That was it! I knew... More

We enjoyed a light evening meal at Restaurant Les Pyrenees. the Potage Du Moment which was vegetable, was piping hot and filled with fresh produce. The seafood pasta was also very tasty. The service was friendly and prompt and the meal was very reasonably priced.

Had the chefs recommendations which were good, but not exceptional. My sea bass was very thin and over cooked and the skin left on. Some of the skin was crunchy (which was OK) but it was served plate side down so the underside) got soggy and difficult to separate from the fish. My wife had the lamb shank which was... More

We made reservations, as we had a large group. The restaurant was recommended by our hotel staff. I had been craving cassoulet, and was not disappointed. It was delicious. Our group ordered an assortment of dishes, and everyone was happy. The servoce was good, even on a busy night with a large group.

Having selected three potential restaurants in Vieux Montrèal, we headed toward the harbour from our hotel on an overcast blustery April day. We'd decided, given the state of our stomachs and the threat of rain, to eat at the first of three that presented itself, if the menu looked suitable. Les Pyrenées met our criteria and, while pondering the bilingual... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
