On a recent visit to Montreal to participate in the World Poker Tour, we had an evening off to enjoy some of what Montreal has to offer. A colleague, working in the city had heard of La Medusa and made a reservation. Upon entering to the right, once inside the front door, you seemed to be in a wine cellar... More

We had a reservation on hockey night. We walked in ON TIME to be greeted by a mass of people waiting to be seated. After 20 minutes waiting at the door, I went to see someone, anyone, to be seated. I was rudely told to wait. After another 10 minutes, I went, again, so see the owner, who them explained... More

I didn't know what to expect. This was my first time dining at a 5 star restaurant. I made a reservation online for three, me and my two kids. I was delayed travelling back to the city and called to ask if my reservation could be pushed back. I was accommodated without hesitation and reassured with a pleasant attitude. Once... More

Our last night in Montreal we were tired after walking 5 days and nights and didn't want to walk far for dinner. So we walked about 4 doors away from the Best Western Europa. We made the right choice. When we walked in we felt welcomed immediately. The staff were so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Paolo was fabulous and made... More

This will be a mixed review at best. First, I will say the food here was excellent. I had veal parmigiana with a veal chop as opposed to cutlet. It was cooked to perfection and the pasta and sauce were delicious. My wife had lasagna with a white sauce, as opposed to the traditional red. She said it was amazing.... More

I only gave it "one" because zero is not an option. The owner ( I assume since he was not a server) sat us, and after a few minutes took our order. We asked about white wine with the meal, since saltimbocca is done in a white wine sauce, he rudely said, "Why not red? Well, have whatever you want!".... More

My husband and I chose this restaurant for our first night in Montreal because it had very good reviews and was close to our hotel. Lucky for us!!! This turned out to be the best Italian meal we have eaten in a restaurant and we had such a wonderful experience that we ate there again 2 nights later. We travel... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
