Went there with my family as my wife was craving for vietnamese food. Read the review in Lonely Planet. Pho soup had a strange taste and noodles were overcooked and fried rolls had onions in them...telling sign: no vietnamese crowd in the place....

my favorite is the fried rolls and caramelize pork or beef in a bowl with crispy fresh veggies. the place is small but it makes the experience unique..like each of us who are seating.. it feel like a privileges, something like..we are in Vietnam right here and now.. and it cant get better from this. i have been visiting that... I've been going there at least once a week since fall 1998! Great a healthy food. Leans, and fresh. I recommend the 41 or 42 (pork or chicken) or the chicken soup with bamboo sprouts. The spring or imperial rolls are the best I've had in MTL/TO or NY! The place reopened from its fire early march 2016.

The first owner of this restaurant, Mr. Jimmy Lam, has taken it over his sister from January 21 2013, and rename it to Cristal No 41 to reflect the famous No 41 in the Menu. He keep the same family cuisine from 1986 (the year the first restaurant was opened in Montreal Chinatown). So it is in the same address,... More

My sister used to order from there all the time and once she bring be there and it was the best vietnamese food i ever had. The ingredients are simple, yet fresh, well prepared and taste so good. The place itself is modest, old tables and chairs, but i love it, and it is very inexpensive, enjoy!

Food is good! Prices are nice too! Service is the same as all the ChinaTown in Mtrl. If you're on a rush, it might not be the best place. But if you're carving for some healthy asian food, you're on the right spot!

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Bakeries, markets, restaurants, and buffets crowd the brightly graffitied streets of Chinatown, the city's aromatic destination for pan-Asian cuisine. Distinguished at its entry points by towering vermillion paifang gates, the compact neighbourhood acts as a focal point for the Chinese community, hectic with educational facilities, cultural centres, acupuncturists, and foreign-language newspapers. Especially vibrant in the warmer months, when the sweet smell of dragon beard candy along the pedestrian walks of Rue de la Gauchetière signal the beginning of the outdoor street fair season, Chinatown is a treasure hunter's dream, with enough knickknack and curiosity shops to tempt even the pickiest shoppers. The convivial vibe picks up after dark, when the area's active nightlife offers evening crowds their choice of drink, dance, and midnight snacks of pho or oysters. Chinatown's mix of new and old, with herbal remedies being sold alongside pop-culture DVDs, gives the area its own animated brand of moxie.
