My new favorite restaurant in Montreal. From the moment we arrived, the welcome and service were excellent. The signature cocktails are a must. Very unique and very delicious. The atmosphere has a cool, hip vibe. The decor, I want that dog at the front door💗 The food was superb. You must order the pancakes for dessert! We had a great... More

The atmosphere was relaxing, the service was perfect and the food was incredible. I had fish with a shared side of cauliflower as well as spaghetti squash. The spaghetti squash was so delicious I ordered another side of it instead of desert! We didn't see a sign outside for the restaurant so it's easy to miss since it's down some... More

The restaurant is small and you should make reservations. The atmosphere seems celebratory, music was a little louder, people were buzzing with conversation, and the staff was attentive and busy. This isn't the place for a quiet meal, but definitely the place for an enjoyable night out! Tables are a little close together, but with that we got to know... More

We are a thirtytwo year old couple with no kids and were in Montreal for work. We visited Le Bremner last night and truly loved every minute of our night. We started with some oysters then had the lobster with endive and the tuna. Finished with the seabream fish and clams. The atmosphere was perfect, the staff was so polite... More

I visited Le Bremner on the recommendation of the concierge at my hotel. I asked for a place in Old Montreal that was fun with some local flair. The restaurant is not well-labelled from the street - just two red lamps in front of a stairwell (I was warned of this, so it wasn't very hard to find). It was... More

is a small, friendly restaurant offering a very good meal at reasonable price . Nice service with relatively good knowledge, perhaps less so on wine list but ok. Dinner was excellent. I will be back.

Le Bremner was strongly recommended to my husband and me (in our mid- to late-thirties) by my younger and hipper brother. We had an amazing time! The atmosphere was fun, the service was attentive and personable, and the food was excellent. We ordered the cocktails of the day after reviewing a cocktail list where it didn't seem like one could... More

Le Bremner will not adapt their menu in any manner, and it would have been helpful to have been informed of this prior to sitting down for our 8:30pm dinner reservation. I suggest that the restaurant makes this clear on their website in order to inform diners of their policies. I would have never made a reservation here (over one... More

We totally loved this place. From the minute you walk down the stairs into this unmarked, cozy, flatteringly-lit you have a feeling like you've discovered something special. At every turn this place just charmed us. The cocktails were strong and tasty. The menu was diverse and absolutely fresh. The portions were small but perfectly made. Every bite was delicious. For... don't try to ask for any changes in from their strange menu (fish cooked with beef stock?) including no flexibility to change for food allergies, etc

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
