Best Italian restaurant in Montreal and arguably in the world. Food is home made and to die for! The atmosphere and hospitality is amazing. The owner, Mario, is the nicest guy and is totally passionate about providing good food. Highly recommend! I pass by every time I'm in town! They should consider opening up in Toronto!!

The restaurant is not in the fanciest part of Rue Notre Dame, but it is just a stone's throw from the Old Port - a good spot to recover your energies during a walk around Old Montreal. Service is bilingual and very attentive - although less attentive once a small group of policemen arrived and took away a big share... More

Really good food, tasty and succulent. Try those gnocchis, they're great. And the zucchini chips while waiting for the entrées!! The service was on point and for sure you can't go there without having a grappa with Mario!!!

Went to this restaurant after checking for Italian restaurants n reading the reviews. Very nice, small and cozy. I had the milk fed veal with artichokes and mushrooms in white wine. Very good. The waitress was very nice and we met the owner Mario who was very and friendly. My meal was $29.00 average price I thought. Food all made... More

We found this great little Italian restaurant in the old port. We had homemade ricotta gnocchi, calamari, pappardelle in a braised beef sauce, and a linguini with these two huge scampi in a tomato sauce. I have to say I don't think I ever expected to have real authentic Italian in the old port.I was wrong. Mario, the owner introduced himself after... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
