Such amazing food, everything is a good bet. The Big Nasty is everything I want on one plate: their deboned fried chicken in a biscuit sandwich with cheese and gravy. Every side dish is the best dish. Great cocktails too. The place is small, and no A/C in the summer, but you can take a picnic basket to the park... More

Yum! Craving southern comfort food? This is the place. My husband and I will be back for sure. We were both feeling under the weather and needed a good fixing of mac and cheese. We got that and much more. Hush puppies, cornbread, brisket, fried chicken. All delicious!

Went here for dinner with friends. When we first approached, we were shocked at how small the restaurant was. We entered into the bar area which had about 6 seats along a bar-height counter. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that the actual dining area was accessed by the other door outside. We waited at the bar for our... More

The staff are friendly and the food is made with love. Get the fried chicken with mac and cheese. Be prepared to drink out of mason jars... That's not a criticism either.

Absolutely love this place since it opened. Everything tastes homemade and is homemade. I always go for the pulled pork, all of their sides are great but I especially love the vinagered Swiss chard. They now have a bigger sit down room adjacent but the jewel in the crown is taking the pic-nik basket in the park outside come summer... More

Upon hearing of a southern inspired restaurant in Montreal of all places, I was interested in checking it out, having eaten lots of southern cuisine and visiting most of the south I had high expectations. Fortunately I was not disappointed, the service and atmosphere is perfect, the music with a bit of blues and soul fits the food. Interestingly, these... More

Cornbread, fried chicken, mac n' cheese are so tasty. We visited in the summer and loved their concept. They pack your meal in a picnic baskets so you can take the food to the park across the street.. The cashier was friendly and explained the menu thoroughly and help me understand how the portions worked. We returned again 2 weeks... More

This place has been a regular favourite of mine since I moved to Little Italy five years ago. The food is always on point, wether you're looking for smoked brisket, pulled pork, or their fantastic fried chicken. Their standard sides are one better than the other braised greens, mashed potatoes, hushpuppies, etc. then add to this an always innovative menu... More

This is a decent place to eat chicken and ribs and other comfort foods. They also have pic Nic baskets that you can take out and eat in the nearby park. Nice option in summer. It's a small place and the food is good. Would recommend to a friend if you are in the area.

We rode our bixi bikes to this restaurant. There are two parts, a take out and a sit down side. It was empty as it was still the start of the lunch time on a Sunday. We took a seat by the window. The restaurant decor is interesting and they used long black drapes to separate the kitchen and everything... More

Staying in Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie

Neighbourhood Profile
Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie
Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie has one of Canada's most prominent Italian communities, with Little Italy concentrated along the convivial bends of Saint-Lawrence Boulevard. Known for its fantastic bars and authentic Italian fare, the domain includes the Jean-Talon Market, the largest public market in North America. Open year-round, sunny months see fruit and vegetable stalls set up outside the main chalet, while blustery weather draws crowds indoors to meat and cheese sellers, spices and truffles stalls, and for regional delicacies such as rare Charlevoix lamb. While the market dictates what's fresh for local restaurateurs, visitors can please more than their palates, taking in the Renaissance architecture and frescos of Madonna della Difesa, the picturesque Rue Saint-Rominique with its cheerful homes and splendid gardens, or the ornamented thoroughfare of Plaza Saint-Hubert.
